ATTACHMENT F: EQUIPMENT AND OPERATOR EXPERIENCE FORM
2027-374 Owen-Hinz WMA Winter Brush Mowing
Equipment Specifications:
Required equipment will consist of a rubber tracked skid steer (min. 100 gross engine HP, 35.0 gallon per minute, gpm, hydraulic flow to cutting head), or a tracked crawler (min. 135 gross engine horsepower) or a rotary axe (min. 180 gross engine horsepower) equipped with tracks or high flotation tires or a combination thereof.
Due to the variability of densities and size of stems of willow, alder, and other brush species on this site, the contractor must use a mower attachment(s) that is capable of effectively mowing/mulching a wide variety of differently sized material. DNR recommends Contractor use tracked skid steers. Utilize both heavy duty rotary brush mowers (i.e. Davco or equivalent) and drum style mulching mowers (i.e. Fecon or equivalent) for this project. The heavy-duty rotary mowers will likely work best on woody vegetation with basal stem diameters 2.0 inches and less whereas the drum style mulching mowers will likely work best on the larger woody vegetation stands with basal stem diameters of 2.0 inches and greater. The heavy-duty rotary mower or drum style mulcher must be equipped with blades or cutting teeth capable of effectively cutting/mulching all diameters of woody vegetation from the small flexible to the larger rigid material.
