About this file

This is an Amendment #1 Questions and Answers document for a Request for Bids (RFB) issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the procurement of appliances for residence halls and apartments (Solicitation 2026-UWMSN-01230-RFB). The solicitation covers multiple lots of appliances with specific brand and model requirements to maintain consistency across the university's student housing facilities. The bid submission deadline is February 19, 2026, with inquiries directed to Lori Storvik at lori.storvik@wisc.edu. The University has established strict specifications for each lot, with historical purchase data showing significant annual expenditures: LOT 1 at $398,112.10, LOT 2 at $211,356.00, and LOT 1 & LOT 3 combined at $1,010,823.34 based on prior-year purchase orders for awarded vendors only.

The University explicitly restricts brand substitutions across all lots to maintain standardization for resident equality and to facilitate maintenance training and repairs. Vendors are permitted to propose replacement models only if the original specified model is discontinued, subject to University approval. The procurement is open to competitive bidding with no identified set-asides or disadvantaged business enterprise requirements. Additionally, other University of Wisconsin campuses and state entities are authorized to piggyback on awarded contracts where vendors allow such arrangements, though specific spend data for these entities is not available. Bidders must submit responses electronically through the ShopUW+ system.

Amendment #1

2026-UWMSN-01230-RFB

Appliances for Residence Halls & Apartments Questions and Answers

Question 1: Will the University consider a similar model of equal or greater quality than what is shown on Lot 2, only allowing MicroChill to offer this option of 2 door refrigerator?

Answer 1: The University will not accept other models or brands. We have thousands of the Microchill 2 Door Refrigerator/Freezer Unit and we want to keep our brands/models consistent for resident equality and maintenance training/repairs.

Question 2: What are the number of units the University has purchased by year over the past 3 years of each item?

Answer 2: For UW-Madison: for the awarded vendors and as linked to the items on this contract only: *LOT 1 was $398,112.10 on purchase orders only * LOT 1 & LOT 3 (SQ units) was $1,010,823.34 on purchase orders only. LOT 2 was $211,356.00 on purchase orders only. One other thing to note is that other campuses and state entities also use this contract (for vendors that allow piggybacking). We do not have that spend available.

Question 3: Will comparable models be allowed on tabs 1, 3 and 4 other than the brands listed?

Answer 3: For Lot #1, LOT #3 and Lot #4: "Models ONLY” if a model no longer exists and has a recommended model replacement we will accept the replacement model. “NO” to additional brands please.
