Badger Meter is A leader in water technology innovation. Since
1905, we have pioneered solutions to the toughest water challenges.
Communication Modules Since the introduction of our first AMR system in June 1986, Badger Meter has consistently delivered reliable communication solutions, deploying millions of our flagship ORION® endpoints for thousands of customers. Our commitment to advancing utility operations has empowered utilities, authorities, water districts, industrial users, commercial entities, and privatized water organizations to enhance their services through innovative technology.
Badger Meter recognized the challenge utilities were facing in implementing complex AMI systems and developed a solution to enhance operations while simplifying this process. In 2014, Badger Meter was the first to introduce a cellular-based AMI solution for North American water utilities, solidifying our status as an industry leader. Three years later, in 2017, Badger Meter released its first LTE-M endpoint, which has since been integrated into 5G standards.
ORION Cellular endpoints offer a robust and secure solution designed to adapt to customer needs.
ORION Cellular Network as a Service (NaaS) leverages direct endpoint communication with existing cellular infrastructure, without the need for utility-owned or -managed data collectors, gateways or repeaters. In this “greener” approach to AMI, ORION Cellular NaaS eliminates operating expenses associated with designing, permitting, installing, repairing, and troubleshooting a separate proprietary fixed network and infrastructure. In fact, with ORION Cellular NaaS, the only components needed for communication—the meter and endpoint—can be held in your hands. Flexible implementation strategies and scalability ensure that ORION Cellular endpoints can effectively support your requirements both now and as they evolve in the future. The cellular network enhances data communication to be more efficient, scalable and secure.
Badger Meter is at the forefront of security in smart water technology, as evidenced by our ORION Cellular endpoints being the first certified device under the IoT Network Certified for Smart Connected Infrastructure™ program by Ericsson and CTIA. This certification positions the ORION Cellular endpoint as a benchmark for quality and security in connected infrastructure applications, ensuring a robust and secure smart metering foundation for utilities and smart water customers by addressing both the device and data transmission across wireless networks into our cloud software.
Software and Analytics We provide a suite of comprehensive and tailorable software solutions designed to enhance the management of water systems through essential data, insights and analytics. Our journey began in 2014 with the launch of BEACON SaaS and EyeOnWater®, to efficiently manage “meter-to-cash” and customer service operations. Since its release, we have further developed and successfully deployed thousands of systems throughout North America, empowering our customers with actionable, transformative data that goes beyond billing.
