About this file
This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Mid Michigan College located in Harrison, Michigan, seeking Design-Build (D/B) services for renovating nursing and welding program facilities. The project involves comprehensive renovation of classrooms and laboratories at 1375 S. Clare Ave, with proposals due on 07/17/2025 at 2:00 P.M. A mandatory pre-bid walkthrough is scheduled for 07/08/2025 at 10:00 A.M. The RFP solicits proposals for two distinct renovation projects: Nursing Program Renovation (to be completed by September 30th, 2025) and Welding Lab Renovation (to be completed by January 11th, 2026), with an option for a combined project. The scope includes redesigning computer labs, offices, and welding facilities, involving electrical upgrades, lighting conversions, flooring replacements, wall modifications, and infrastructure improvements.
The RFP requires detailed proposals including company information, project approach, team members, references, and a comprehensive cost breakdown. Proposers must submit electronic bids through BidNet and provide a cost proposal using Appendix A, which includes design-build fees, construction budgets, bonding costs, and builders' risk insurance. The total project is contingent on funding, and the college will assign a construction contingency after reviewing final costs. Proposals should be all-inclusive, with construction cost estimates expected to remain within a +10% variance. The selection process will involve reviewing submissions, potential interviews, and choosing a design-build contractor through a negotiation process aimed at establishing an AIA 141 Contract between the owner and design-builder.
