About this file
This document is an addendum to the Town of Claremont Water System Upgrades contract opportunity. The project involves upgrades to the existing community water system serving the Town of Claremont, including well entry piping, booster pumps, an above-ground water storage tank, and replacement of portions of the distribution system. The pre-bid meeting minutes and attendee list are attached. Bids are due by February 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM via hard copy delivery to the Town. Contract documents, important dates, and the project scope are outlined, including bid alternates for horizontal directional drilling. The contractor will be responsible for site security, power, and water coordination with the Town. Regulatory agency coordination with VDOT and Surry County is required.
The low bidder will be determined based on the base bids, and bid alternates may be exercised once the low bidder is approved. Materials for the project may be tax-exempt, and the existing water system is currently operated by Sydnor, though the Town has a utilities maintenance team. There are approximately 50 service connections, including 17 fire hydrants, involved in the project.
