About this file
This document announces an Industry Day hosted by the United States Air Force Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate on 9-10 November 2022. The Industry Day will provide briefings on the Sensor Optimization for Focused Lethality (SOOPERFLY) program and the Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface programs to interested US companies. SOOPERFLY aims to integrate new sensor technologies to demonstrate an integrated capability for early warning, defeating platforms, and defeating weapons. Resolute Sentry focuses on air domain sensing and autonomy solutions, while Resolute Sentry Surface extends these capabilities to maritime surface targets. The Industry Day goals are to share program objectives, identify technology opportunities, and facilitate partnerships to address warfighter needs in relevant timeframes. Interested parties must register by 2 November 2022 and comply with all security and export control requirements to attend the SECRET level event at Wright Patterson Air Force Base on 9-10 November.

The United States Air Force Air Force Research Lab Sensors Directorate will conduct a Sensor
Optimization for Focused Lethality (SOOPERFLY) & Resolute Sentry/Resolute Sentry Surface
Industry Day event Wednesday/Thursday 9-10 November 2022, 0900-1600 hours, at Wright Patterson
AFB, OH. The Industry Day will take place at AFRL Sensors Directorate, Wright-Patterson AFB, Area B, Building 600, located at 2241 Avionics Circle. The Industry Day will be conducted at the SECRET security level. (SOOPERFLY PM: Mr. Steve Fernandez, AFRL/RYZT, stephen.fernandez.2@us.af.mil, Resolute Sentry
PM: JoAnn Erno, AFRL/RYAR, joann.erno.2@us.af.mil )
Attendees can expect to be provided informational Government briefings and participate in discussions regarding SOOPERFLY and the Resolute Sentry Programs.
Due to the nature of the topic, this event is open to US citizens and US companies only, with a maximum of two employees per company. Attendees will need to provide clearances upon registration.
Deadline for registration is Wednesday 2 November 2022. This event will be held over two days, with one presentation both days. A detailed agenda will be provided to confirmed attendees no later than
Monday 7 November 2022. Questions and feedback from industry are encouraged. All formal briefings of the SOOPERFLY/Resolute Sentry/Resolute Sentry Surface will be releasable to the participants in a final package via SIPRNet. Laptops, cell phones and other electronic devices will not be permitted at the event.
SOOPERFLY
The SOOPERFLY Problem Statement & Objective:
SOOPERFLY is focused on sensor and sensing technology solutions that will help prevent a specific, credible threat from successfully attacking a blue center of gravity (CoG) in the 2025-2027 timeframe.
SOOPERFLY’s primary objective is to integrate new technologies from AFRL Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY) and commercially available systems to showcase an integrated capability demonstration (ICD) focused on a credible threat. SOOPERFLY will focus on three primary capability areas: Early Warning, Defeat the Platform, Defeat the Weapon. SOOPERFLY provides a wide range of operations research, mission modeling, systems engineering, technical and program analysis, hardware and software development, systems integration, technology demonstration, and flight testing to determine which combination of sensor system(s) technologies and emerging technologies offer optimal performance for real-world Air mailto:stephen.fernandez.2@us.af.mil mailto:joann.erno.2@us.af.mil
Force missions considering technical viability and lifecycle cost. Sensor analysis, development, integration, test and demonstration will be completed to rapidly address and respond to these urgent operational warfighter needs to enable technology transition on an operationally relevant timeline. Multiple projects and technology thrusts shall be executed in collaboration with ongoing Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Air Force programs to explore sensor system integration among multiple sensor research areas and across multiple domains and/or cyber environments.
SOOPERFLY Industry Day Vision:
This is a collaborative event intended for the Government to expand upon this AFRL effort and highlight opportunities for Industry involvement. These opportunities include operations research, mission modeling, systems engineering, technical and program analysis, hardware and software development, rapid systems integration, technology demonstration, and flight test demonstration.
SOOPERFLY Industry Day Goals:
The goal of the event is to allow the Government to share information and objectives regarding this AFRL/RY-led effort. This industry day will enable synergy between this AFRL effort and Defense Industrial Base to ensure warfighter needs are met in an operationally relevant timeframe.
✓ Provide insight to the scope of the SOOPERFLY program and related RY technology as well as notional technical timelines
✓ Gain understanding of Industry technologies and developments
✓ Communicate technical needs and opportunities for Industry partners
✓ Collect feedback on industry inputs to address the warfighter needs
Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface
The Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface Problem Statements
Resolute Sentry is focused on air domain sensing, sense-making, orchestration, and information integration solutions for autonomous unmanned air platforms. Resolute Sentry Surface builds on Resolute Sentry to provide maritime surface sensing, sense-making, orchestration, and information integration capabilities also from autonomous unmanned air platforms.
Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface complement the Early Warning and Defeat the Platform capability areas of SOOPERFLY. Resolute Sentry Surface extends the Resolute Sentry capability to address specific military grade maritime surface targets.
The USAF is actively researching, developing, and integrating advanced technologies to autonomously track, ID, and maintain custody of high value air and surface targets. This approach to RDT&E includes the utilization of an open systems architecture, leveraging hardware and software that conforms to OMS 2.x & their service contracts, along with MS&A of operational uses cases in AFSIM.
The Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface Industry Day Vision
This collaborative event is intended for Government and Industry to highlight innovative ISR sensing capabilities, architectures, autonomy solutions, sense making technologies (detection, tracking, identification, and predictive analytics), and technologies ready for rapid integration on future Government research and development programs. This meeting is an initial industry exchange for the Resolute Sentry program and also includes an opportunity for discussion on the Resolute Sentry Surface
Request for Information Release under the Advanced Battle Management System IDIQ (pending release in late October or early November 2022). Subsequent Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface RFIs are expected to be released over the course of the programs.
The Resolute Sentry and Resolute Sentry Surface Industry Day Goals
This event will help AFRL and its Government partners identify high TRL / ready-to-integrate sensing, sense making, orchestration, and information integration technologies, that conform to OMS 2.x standards, use or include advanced Sensor Open Systems Architectures (SOSA), and have performance models ready for AFSIM implementation. These solutions may lead to candidate partnerships in the Resolute Sentry program in support of tech-maturation, risk reduction, and integration goals in the 2023-2025 timeframe and Resolute Sentry Surface program from 2024-2028 timeframe.
