Scope of Work Description of Tasks The Contractor shall furnish all supervision, materials, equipment and vehicles, tools, parts, labor, transportation, lodging, and miscellaneous items to clean out seven watershed stock tanks. Due to both natural sediment transport and other natural processes over many years, these stock tanks need sediment removal and dike repair to bring them back to their original water storage potential. The work to be completed will be to remove sediment from the stock tanks without jeopardizing their integrity and to maintain or repair dams or spillways damaged due to increased sediment transport.
Work could begin May 2022 and may last through August 2023 depending on moisture and ability to clean the tanks during favorable conditions.
The project is located on the Santa Catalina Ranger District in Pima County, Arizona.
The Government intends to award a firm fixed-price contract based on Lowest Price Technically Acceptable.
General Work Location The project is located just east of Tucson, Arizona south of Redington Pass and north of the Saguaro National Park Boundary within the Bellota and Redington Pass Allotments.
Project Area 1-Redington and Bellota
This project area is accessed from the Redington Rd. (See Map). The suggested route for five of the stock tanks would be to take the 37 road south to Italian Trap Tank; 4424 road to the 4417 to Chiva Tank; then the 4426 Road to East Chiva and Anillo Stock Tanks; and then follow the 4426 and 4417 out to Mud Trap Tank. Josephine Stock Tank is located off Redington Rd and can be accessed through the Alambre Holding Pasture. Pasture get is locked. COR or permittee will make sure gate is open for the when project work is to be conducted for Josephine. The only access to Metate Tank is from the County to the 4425 road on the eastside of the Forest boundary.
Access from the Redington/Cascabel side of Redington Road is the best option, as lowboys will not be able to make the switch backs on the Tucson side and must be walked in.
Project Area 2-Frog Habitat Management
This project area is accessed from the Redington Rd. or 4412C and 4412 (See Map). The suggested route for four of the stock tanks would be to take the 4412 and 4412C Rds from private property in the vicinity of Tanque Verde Ranch to First Tank; then then head east to Portoritas tank, then take the 4405 Rd to Mesa La Osa Stock Tank; and then the 4404 Rd. to Mule Deer Tank. COR and permittee will work with private landowner to gain access to the 4412 and 4412C Rds.
Yellowstone tank can be accessed from Redington Road. Access from the Redington/Cascabel side of Redington Road is the best option, as lowboys will not be able to make the switch backs on the Tucson side and must be walked in.
Time Limit The Contractor will have (2) two weeks per tank to complete this task from issuance of the Notice to Proceed. If conditions are not suitable (i.e. stock tank is not dry enough), notify COR to reschedule cleanout.
