Questions and Answers – Set 1

1. Does the shredder require a feed conveyor? Yes. If not, how will tires including those from “semis” be fed into the shredder?

1. Does the shredder require a discharge conveyor? Yes. If so, how high should the discharge height be? Industry standard, roughly 24”.

1. Will the shredder be installed indoors? Yes. If not, will the shredder be installed on an adequately sized concrete pad?

1. What power is available to operate the shredder? Electric power supply.

1. Why does the shredder need to have the ability to produce 4” diameter and also 2” diameter pieces? We are obtaining an EPA exemption to use 4” shred pieces for various uses (concrete, aquatic needs, power, etc.). We anticipate that this exemption will not be permanent so we need the ability to produce 2” pieces in the future. We will consider a shred size of 4” or smaller but it must have the ability to convert to a 2” or smaller shred size. We are not looking for crumb rubber as an end product. It is our understanding that the operational and maintenance cost of 2” shred is significantly more than the larger 4” shred and this is why we are obtaining the exemption.
