About this file

This is a procurement specification document for wooden sign posts issued by the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT). The project involves the procurement of 1,450 wooden sign posts in various dimensions, ranging from 4"x4"x14' to 6"x6"x20', to be distributed across six MDOT maintenance facilities located in Scarborough, Augusta, Dixfield, Bangor, and Caribou, Maine, as well as a paint warehouse in Augusta. The order breaks down by regional location, with specific quantities assigned to each facility based on operational requirements.

The wooden sign posts must meet specific material and manufacturing standards, requiring Eastern Hemlock No. 2 or better, or Southern Yellow Pine No. 2 or better, treated to .40 inch penetration with a retention rate of .60 PCF using ACQ treatment. All lumber must be kiln or air dried before treatment, incised on all four sides, and dressed four square (D4S). Posts must be rectangular, straight, and sound timber cut from live growing native trees, free from loose knots, shake, holes, and heart rot, with allowable tolerances of 25mm in length and 6mm in width or thickness. The document does not include pricing information, contract term details, response deadlines, or award information, indicating this is a specification sheet component of a larger procurement package.
