The Canine Castle is all aluminum, 8' long, 46" high and 4' wide. The unit has a full roof front to back. A front gate for the dog to enter and exit. The kennel sets off the ground 12 inches. 20 year life expectancy with no virus or bacteria retention. The floor of the kennel is made of 1/2" Koma™ board, which is white in color to reflect heat and is equipped with a drainage hole for easy cleaning. Unit is fully collapsible for shipping and stacking. The dog's indoor shelter, which is attached to the rear of the kennel, is double aluminum walled, with insulation between the interior and exterior walls. The top of the indoor box has a lid which lifts up for cleaning. Ventilation ports can be open and closed on each side.
Based on the Border Patrol's (USBP) product usage experience, the K9 Guardian, Inc. K9 Castle is the safest and most durable hutch commercially available that will provide USBP K9s with the safety, privacy, and reduced visual stimulation necessary while also maintaining airflow throughout the hutch. The durability of the K9 Castle has been tested and proven as the majority of what the USBP still has in service is the K9 Castle; other models have been excessed out when they became no longer fixable or safe.
The K9 Castle has flooring material essential to the Government's requirement in that other vendors flooring (such as rubber floor mats) can cause problems with USBP K9s biting and tearing at the mat rendering the mat useless as well as presenting both a health and safety hazard. Other manufacturer models metal flooring becomes slippery when wet and could cause injury to USBP K9s. Since the K9 Castle is the USBPs primary hutch, they are also all keyed the same providing standardization and security operationally. Another unique aspect of the K9 Castle is that the hutch sits higher than other manufacturers' products. Other hutches that stand shorter make it more difficult to sanitize properly which again presents a health and safety hazard to the K9s. The legs of the K9 Castle have also proven to be more durable than other manufacturers products. Other manufacturers products have also been found to have rough metal edges presenting injury potential to both the K9 and the handler.

The market for the caliber of quality hutch required to support USBP K9s is small. K9 Castles are currently listed on the k9guardian.com website for $2,000 per hutch. In addition to comparison to other similar commercially available hutches available online, two other hutches on GSA were examined and this comparison showed pricing in-line with the K9 castle with one model showing $2,000 exactly and another at $1,803.83.
