To be considered for award, vendors of “equal” products, including “equal” products of the brand-named manufacturer, must meet the criteria for the salient characteristics that follow:
GP2 grid plunge freezer:
• Must have one sided blotting and possibility to blot grid from the rear.
• Must have a single blot sensor.
• Must have temperature and humidity control of the environmental chamber.
• Must have a control of the secondary cryogen (liquid nitrogen) temperature for stable primary cryogen (Ethane) temp.
• Must have a microscope viewing system for quality monitoring of specimen during blot and freeze.
• Must have a liquefying head for filling of secondary cryogen to prevent spillover contamination into the primary cryogen.
• Must be installed on-site
Sputter Coater:
• Must be able to protect beam-sensitive specimens.
• Must be a two-source concept with angled ports and a rotating stage allowing for an evenly distributed thin film over a 100mm stage. This resulting thin layer of metal should allow for high magnification SEM analysis up to 200kX and beyond.
• Must be able to facilitate sample preparation of room temp and cryo samples.
• Configurable with a dedicated low angle rotary shadowing (LARS) setup to image proteins or DNA strands by TEM.
• Must double as a carbon evaporator allowing the preparation of a thin but strong support layer for TEM grids.
• Must be compatible with EM VCT500 transfer system, to support cryo-EM workflow by providing an interface for cryo transfer coating under cryo conditions and allowing a freeze-fracture capability.
• Must be installed on-site
