About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract FA527026, issued by the U.S. Air Force Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), 18th Contracting Squadron, for the procurement of COMTAC VI headsets and ARIES Dual Communications Push-to-Talk (PTT) assembly equipment for A1C Isaiah T. Herron.

The document addresses four key clarifications regarding technical specifications and required components. Contractors are advised that no pricing history, prior award information, or Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE) will be provided. The government specifies that an Atlantic Signal 21GC Series Headset (5C) Adapter Cable with 8-inch lead must be included as the COMTAC VI headset uses 5C connectors while the ARIES PTT requires a different connector type. The radios for which compatibility is required are the Motorola APX 6000 (Model H98KGD9PW5BN) and the PRC-163 (RT1916N(P)(C)/U, P/N: 12041-3000-02). Required cable assemblies include the 21GC Series Motorola APX Series Radio Connector with 27-inch lead and the 21GC Series Overmolded 6 Pin Radio Connector for PRC 148/152/117 with 27-inch lead. The government clarifies that it will maintain the standard 5C COMTAC VI configuration rather than adopting a GC downlead alternative, and that 6-pin radio cables are required as separate line items.

COMTAC VI HEADSETS & ARIES DUAL COMM PTT ASSEMBLY #2 FA527026

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. Question: “As I prepare a quote, I wanted to ask whether any pricing history or prior award information is available for these items — either from a previous solicitation for the same or similar requirement, or an Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE), if releasable.”

Answer: We cannot provide any pricing history, or prior award information for these items and from a previous solicitation or Independent Government Cost Estimate.

2. Question: “This item that we included in the original solicitation is required for this equipment to work since 5C connectors are called for on the headsets:

Atlantic Signal, Part # 21GC.A.001.5C-8 (21GC Series: Headset (5C) Adapter Cable - 8" Lead) the ARIES PTT has a different connector and as referenced in the RFQ, it will not work, so either the downlead on the headset needs to be changed to the GC downlead or the transition cable above needs to be included.”

Answer: Please provide the adapter.

3. Question: “The Comtac VI -92 headset will need an adapter into the Aries, and this is also missing the part numbers for the radio cables. It’s lumped into the Aries part number but will need to be a separate line item. Another option, if you’re able to update, we could quote the Comtac VI with the GC downlead to avoid an adapter cable and will plug directly into the Aries. This will also need the 21GC radio cable for the 163. What radio model number(s) do you need this for? Are you needing the 6 pin radio cables added in as well? If so, I can provide part numbers for that as well. “ Answer: The radios being used are the Motorola APX 6000 and the PRC-163 [RT- 1916N(P)(C)/U (P/N: 12041-3000-02)]. The 6 pin radio cables will also be required.

4. Question: “ The latest amendments to Notice ID: FA527026QA044 cleared up some issues, but it is still missing items.

The answer to question #3 (below) states that the radios being used are the PRC- 163, Motorola APX 6000 and a 6 pin. You have part number for the PRC-163 listed, but you do not have a part number listed for the APX 6000.

Answer: Motorola APX 6000 Model # - H98KGD9PW5BN 21GC Series: Motorola APX Series Radio Connector – 27” Lead 21GC Series: Overmolded 6 Pin Radio Connector for PRC 148/152/117 – 27” Lead The radios being used are the Motorola APX 6000 and the PRC-163 [RT-

1916N(P)(C)/U (P/N: 12041-3000-02)]. The 6 pin radio cables will also be required.

We don’t require GC downlead and will stay with 5C Comtac VI.
