About this file

This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) to acquire Sign Language Proficiency Interview training for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The sole source provider is the NTID Sign Language Assessment and Resource Center located in Rochester, NY. The National SLIPI:ASL Leadership Board, housed at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, is the sole entity that provides the required evaluator training and program oversight for the Sign Language Proficiency Interview: American Sign Language (SLIP:ASL) assessment. The estimated dollar amount for this single source procurement is not to exceed $12,000.

The justification for the single source is that there are no other entities that provide the same ASL assessment evaluator program or workshops that would serve the same purpose as the NSLB. Additionally, there is no other competing program for ASL assessment in the state of Florida. The advertisement period is from November 4, 2024 to November 26, 2024, and vendors who believe they can fulfill this procurement should contact the primary contact, Kim Whitwam, Director of Purchasing, within this timeframe.
