About this file
This is a required budget template spreadsheet for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) FY2025 program. The Excel template includes sections for detailed cost breakdowns across six main categories: Programming/Personnel, Travel Costs, Lodging, M&IE (Meals and Incidental Expenses), Supplies/Materials/Equipment, and Other expenses. Each category allows for multiple line items with columns to specify ECA funds requested and two separate cost share contributions from other sources.
The template includes specific guidance that ECA will not fund laptops, tablets, or hardware, but allows for data cards and mobile hotspots. It requires implementers in USADF-eligible African countries to include additional labor costs for helping participants submit grant applications. The template contains a budget narrative section requiring detailed justification for each line item, including cost calculations and currency conversion rates where applicable. All costs must be specified in USD, with separate tracking of ECA funds and cost share amounts from public or private sector partners.

Budget Narrative
| INSTRUCTIONS: The budget narrative is the portion of the application where posts justify and explain in detail the proposed costs listed in the itemized budget. The narrative helps the Proposal Review Committee better understand how your budget relates to your program activities. To create a competitive budget narrative, be sure to explain exactly what the costs are, how you calculated them, and why they are necessary for your project. If you convert another form of currency to U.S. dollars, you must include the conversion rate. Explain each line item in each category, including funding requested from ECA and cost share. Double check to make sure all numbers listed in the itemized budget match the budget narrative. | |
