About this file
This document is a Justification for Other Than Full and Open Competition (J&A) for the acquisition of a propeller repair for SSBN 726 Class TRIDENT submarines from Defense Maritime Solutions facilities in Chesapeake, VA and Poulsbo, WA. The Navy requires repair and overhaul services for one SSBN726-245-7418065 propeller component with an estimated value of $1.15M. As the original equipment manufacturer and sole source of proprietary data, only Defense Maritime Solutions possesses the specialized engineering skills and manufacturing knowledge required to maintain the quality of this component for use in crucial submarine systems. To promote future competition, the Navy will continue encouraging other vendors to qualify as alternative sources and will advertise all requirements on the government-wide point of entry website.
