About this file
This is a Summary of Work section from project specifications for fish release sites on Sherman Island in Rio Vista, California. The project involves construction of two fish release sites located approximately half mile apart along the Sacramento River levee, including earthwork, concrete slabs, steel platforms with gratings, piping systems, 16-inch diameter steel pipe piles, structural steel frameworks, bollards, downspouts, electrical work, self-cleaning fish screens, various gates and fencing, site lighting, access control systems, and pavement markings. The work must begin within 5 days of notice and has key completion milestones: pile driving and riprap replacement must be completed by September 12, 2016, with all remaining work completed by December 31, 2017.
The project has strict scheduling restrictions, with pile driving work only allowed August 1-September 12, 2016, non-pile driving in-water work restricted to August 1-October 31, 2017, and on-land excavation/earthwork limited to May 1-October 1, 2017. Liquidated damages are set at $3,500 per day for missing the pile driving deadline and $3,000 per day for missing the final completion date, with a maximum of $6,000 per day. The contractor must coordinate with ongoing PG&E electrical upgrades and RD 341 levee improvement work occurring in parallel during 2016-2017. The project requires various permits including Sacramento County encroachment permits and US Coast Guard notifications.
