4.0 Performance objectives (required results)

Upon activation of the duress button, the strobe warning light in the hallways will begin to flash, a signal is sent to the alarm panel and WAVE system transmitter (wired to duress button), EDRS will disengage the electric strikes on the affected interior courtroom door, a timer will keep the electric strike disengaged until a court employee opens the door or the timer times out, at which time the timer will immediately shut-down so the electric strike re-engages and the door is automatically secured when closed. The timer should be set for fifteen (15) seconds. Once closed, the courtroom door will remain secured and the duress button will not be able to disengage the electric strike (a second time) until the treat situation is nullified and the duress system is reset by a court employee and/or on-site security personnel.

Duress Button shall be operated with one finger, silent operation, double-pole double-throw contacts for multi-notifications, twin 45 degree screw terminals with EOL resistor splicing terminal. Once activated, the duress button shall stay locked to prevent a second activation until reset by a “reset key”. The duress alarm button will be permanently mounted on the right of the Judge’s bench in the current location of existing duress button.
