Statement of Work
The 2-day course will be held at FCI Butner, OLD NC HWY 75 BUTNER, NC 27509. THERE WILL BE TWO SESSIONS, JULY 23RD & 24TH AND A SECOND SESSION JULY 26TH AND 27TH.
The training will consist of classroom training, demonstrations, and hands-on training performed on Cleaver Brook firetube boilers. A boiler walk around is required to identify and discuss functionality of devises.
A session on electrical troubleshooting using the specific wiring diagrams is required as well as review of timing and sequencing of the controls.
The demonstrations and hands-on exercises will be integrated into the topic delivery to optimize the learning experience.
The training topics should be organized into two major categories, foundational knowledge and procedural.
The foundational knowledge topics include: Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer, Boiler Overview, Combustion, Boiler Room Equipment, Steam System Load Demand, Low Water Cut-offs, Wiring Diagrams, Flame Safeguard Systems and Maintenance.
The foundational knowledge topics are to be presented in a classroom setting supplemented by boiler tours and demonstrations.
The procedural topics should include: Boiler Startup Procedures, Boiler Shutdown Procedures, Blowdown Procedures, Daily Operational Assessments, Low Water Cut-Off, Low Water Shut-Off, Understanding & changing control settings and Interlocks & Operator troubleshooting.
These topics will be introduced in the classroom and supported with demonstrations and hands-on exercises using the Cleaver Brooks firetube and watertube boilers.
Each attendee should be issued written guides that are not limited to but must include the following topics: Boiler Room Log, Properties of Saturated Steam, Boiler Room Guide, How to Read Schematic Wiring Diagrams, Electrical Nomenclature and Boiler Efficiency.
