The purpose of Amendment 00004 is to:
1. Replace Section 084413 - Glazed Aluminum Curtain Walls with the attached Section 084413 - Glazed Aluminum Curtain walls (the changes are on page 7 in Section 2.1, A, 1, a and 2.1, A, 2, a) and,
2. Incorporate the attached General Decision Number IL20200009 dated 02/07/2020.
Except as provided herein, all terms and conditions of the document referenced in Item 9A or 10A, as heretofore changed, remains unchanged and in full force and effect.

GLAZED ALUMINUM CURTAIN WALLS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY

1. Section 079200 "Joint Sealants" for installation of joint sealants installed with glazed aluminum curtain walls and for sealants to the extent not specified in this Section.
2. Section 084423 "Structural-Sealant-Glazed Curtain Walls" for four-sided structural-sealant-glazed curtain walls.
3. Section 088000 " Glazing " for curtain wall glazing.
4. Section 084113 “Aluminum-Framed Entrances and Storefronts.”
1.3 ALLOWANCES
A. Source quality-control and field quality-control testing is part of testing and inspecting allowance.
1.4 PREINSTALLATION MEETINGS
A. Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site. Conduct pre-installation meeting to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, manufacturer’s installation instructions, and manufacturer’s warranty requirements.
1. Copy of approved shop drawings.
2. Curtain wall window system section sample.
3. Curtain wall glass sample.

1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS / SITE CONDITIONS
A. Field Measurements: Verify actual measurements/openings by field measurements before fabrication; show recorded measurements on shop drawings. Coordinate field measurements, fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays.
1. Include construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and finishes.
2. General: Prepare, review, approve, and submit specified submittals in accordance with
“Conditions of the Contract” and Division 1 Submittals Sections. Product data, shop drawings, samples, and similar submittals are defined in “Conditions of the Contract.
3. Product Data: Submit product data for each series specified.
4. Substitutions: Whenever substitute products are to be considered, supporting technical data, samples and test reports must be submitted ten (10) working days prior to bid date in order to make a valid comparison.
5. Shop drawings: Submit shop drawings showing layout, profiles, and product components, including anchorage, accessories, and finish colors.
6. Samples: Submit verification samples for colors. Minimum 2-1/2 inch by 3 inch (61 mm by 73 mm) samples on actual aluminum substrates indicating full color range expected in installed system.
7. Quality Assurance / Control Submittals:
a. Test Reports: Submit certified test reports showing compliance with specified performance characteristics and physical properties.
b. Installer Qualification Data: Submit installer qualification data.
8. Closeout Submittals:
a. Warranty: Submit warranty documents specified herein.
b. Project Record Documents: Submit project record documents for installed materials in accordance with Division 1 Project Closeout (Project Record Documents) Section.
B. Shop Drawings: For glazed aluminum curtain walls. Include plans, elevations, sections, full-size details, and attachments to other work.
1. Include details of provisions for assembly expansion and contraction and for draining moisture occurring within the assembly to the exterior.
2. Include full-size isometric details of each type of vertical-to-horizontal intersection of glazed aluminum curtain walls, showing the following:
a. Joinery, including concealed welds.
b. Anchorage.
c. Expansion provisions.
d. Glazing.
e. Flashing and drainage.
3. Show connection to and continuity with adjacent thermal, weather, air, and vapor barriers.
C. Samples for Initial Selection: For units with factory-applied color finishes.

D. Samples for Verification: For each type of exposed finish required, in manufacturer's standard sizes.
E. Fabrication Sample: Of each vertical-to-horizontal intersection of assemblies, made from 12-inch (300-mm) lengths of full-size components and showing details of the following:
1. Joinery, including concealed welds.
2. Anchorage.
3. Expansion provisions.
4. Glazing.
5. Flashing and drainage.
1.6 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Preconstruction Laboratory Mockup Testing Submittals:
1. Testing Program: Developed specifically for Project.
2. Test Reports: Prepared by a qualified preconstruction testing agency for each mockup test.
3. Record Drawings: As-built drawings of preconstruction laboratory mockups showing changes made during preconstruction laboratory mockup testing.
B. Qualification Data:
1. For Installer.
2. For professional engineer's experience with providing delegated-design engineering services of the kind indicated, including documentation that engineer is licensed in the state in which Project is located.
C. Energy Performance Certificates: For glazed aluminum curtain walls, accessories, and components from manufacturer.
1. Basis for Certification: NFRC-certified energy performance values for each glazed aluminum curtain wall.
D. Product Test Reports: For glazed aluminum curtain walls, for tests performed by manufacturer and witnessed by a qualified testing agency.
E. Quality-Control Program: Developed specifically for Project, including fabrication and installation, in accordance with recommendations in ASTM C1401. Include periodic quality-control reports.
F. Source quality-control reports.
G. Field quality-control reports.
H. Sample Warranties: For special warranties.

1.7 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS
A. Maintenance Data: For glazed aluminum curtain walls to include in maintenance manuals.
B. Maintenance Data for Structural Sealant: For structural-sealant-glazed curtain walls to include in maintenance manuals. Include ASTM C1401 recommendations for post-installation-phase quality-control program.
1.8 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Installer Qualifications: An entity that employs installers and supervisors who are trained and approved by manufacturer.
B. Laboratory Mockup Testing Agency Qualifications: Qualified in accordance with ASTM E699 for testing indicated and accredited by IAS or ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement as complying with ISO/IEC 17025.
C. Testing Agency Qualifications: Qualified in accordance with ASTM E699 for testing indicated and accredited by IAS or ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement as complying with ISO/IEC 17025] and acceptable to Owner and Architect.
D. Product Options: Information on Drawings and in Specifications establishes requirements for aesthetic effects and performance characteristics of assemblies. Aesthetic effects are indicated by dimensions, arrangements, alignment, and profiles of components and assemblies as they relate to sightlines, to one another, and to adjoining construction.
1. Do not change intended aesthetic effects, as judged solely by Architect, except with Architect's approval. If changes are proposed, submit comprehensive explanatory data to Architect for review.
E. Structural-Sealant Glazing: Comply with ASTM C1401 for design and installation of structural-sealant-glazed curtain wall assemblies.
F. Installer Qualifications: Installer experienced (as determined by contractor) to perform work of this section who has specialized in the installation of work similar to that required for this project. If requested by Owner, submit reference list of completed projects.
G. Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer capable of providing field service representation during construction process.
1.9 PROJECT CONDITIONS / SITE CONDITIONS
A. Field Measurements: Verify actual measurements/openings by field measurements before fabrication; show recorded measurements on shop drawings. Coordinate field measurements, fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays.
1. Build mockup of typical wall area as shown on Drawings.

2. Testing shall be performed on mockups in accordance with requirements in "Field Quality Control" Article.
3. Approval of mockups does not constitute approval of deviations from the Contract Documents contained in mockups unless Architect specifically approves such deviations in writing.
4. Subject to compliance with requirements, approved mockups may become part of the completed Work if undisturbed at time of Substantial Completion.
1.10 PRECONSTRUCTION TESTING
A. Preconstruction Testing Service: Contractor engage a qualified testing agency to perform preconstruction testing on laboratory mockups.
1. Build preconstruction laboratory mockups at testing agency facility; use personnel, products, and methods of construction that will be used at Project site.
2. Size and Configuration: As indicated on Drawings.
3. Notify Architect seven days in advance of the dates and times when preconstruction laboratory mockups will be constructed and tested.
B. Preconstruction Laboratory Mockup Testing: Test preconstruction laboratory mockups according to requirements in "Performance Requirements" Article. Perform the following tests in the following order:
1. Structural: ASTM E330/E330M at 50 percent of positive test load.
2. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
3. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.
4. Water Penetration under Dynamic Pressure: AAMA 501.1.
5. Structural: ASTM E330/E330M at 100 percent of positive and negative test loads. Repeat the following:
a. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
b. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.
6. Interstory Drift: AAMA 501.4 at 100 percent of design displacement. Repeat the following:
a. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
b. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.
7. Vertical Interstory Movement: AAMA 501.7. Repeat the following:
a. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
b. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.
8. Thermal Cycling: In accordance with AAMA 501.5. Repeat the following:
a. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
b. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.

9. Structural: ASTM E330/E330M at 100 and 150 percent of positive and negative test loads. Repeat the following:
a. Air Leakage: ASTM E283.
b. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: ASTM E331.
C. Preconstruction Adhesion and Compatibility Testing: Submit to structural glazing sealant manufacturer, for testing indicated below, Samples of each glazing material type, tape sealant, gasket, glazing accessory, and glass-framing member that is in close proximity to or is touching the structural or nonstructural sealants of a structural glazed system.
1. Compatibility: Test materials or components using ASTM C1087.
2. Adhesion: Test for adhesion or lack of adhesion of a structural sealant to the surface of another material or component using ASTM C1135.
3. Submit no fewer than eight pieces of each type of material, including joint substrates, shims, joint-sealant backings, secondary seals, and miscellaneous materials.
4. Schedule sufficient time for testing and analyzing results to prevent delaying the Work.
5. For materials failing tests, obtain sealant manufacturer's written instructions for corrective measures, including the use of specially formulated primers.
6. Testing will not be required if data based on previous testing of current sealant products match those submitted.
1.11 WARRANTY
A. Special Assembly Warranty: Manufacturer and Installer agree to repair or replace components of glazed aluminum curtain wall that do not comply with requirements or that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.
1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Structural failures including, but not limited to, excessive deflection.
b. Noise or vibration created by wind and thermal and structural movements.
c. Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials beyond normal weathering.
d. Water penetration through fixed glazing and framing areas.
e. Failure of operating components.
2. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion.
B. Special Finish Warranty, Factory-Applied Finishes: Standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair finishes or replace aluminum that shows evidence of deterioration of baked enamel, powder coat, or organic finishes within specified warranty period.
1. Deterioration includes, but is not limited to, the following:
a. Color fading more than 5 Delta E units when tested in accordance with
ASTM D2244.

b. Chalking in excess of a No. 8 rating when tested in accordance with
ASTM D4214.
c. Cracking, checking, peeling, or failure of paint to adhere to bare metal.
2. Warranty Period: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion.
C. Special Finish Warranty, Anodized Finishes: Standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair finishes or replace aluminum that shows evidence of deterioration of anodized finishes within specified warranty period.
1. Deterioration includes, but is not limited to, the following:
a. Color fading more than 5 Delta E units when tested in accordance with
ASTM D2244.
b. Chalking in excess of a No. 8 rating when tested in accordance with
ASTM D4214.
c. Cracking, peeling, or chipping.
2. Warranty Period: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Manufacturers (Acceptable Manufacturers/Products), or equivalent:

a. Curtain Wall System: YKK AP YCW 750 OGP Aluminum Curtain Wall System.
2. Curtain Wall Framing System:
a. Description: Framing shall be thermally improved. Horizontal and vertical framing members shall have a nominal face dimension of 2½ inches. Depth as indicated on drawings..
B. Materials:
1. Extrusions: ASTM B 221 (ASTM B 221M), 6063-T5 and 6063-T6 Aluminum Alloys.
2. Aluminum Sheet:
a. Anodized Finish: ASTM B 209 (ASTM B 209M), 5005-H14 Aluminum Alloy, 0.050” (1.27 mm) minimum thickness.
b. Painted Finish: ASTM B 209 (ASTM 209M), 3003-H14 Aluminum Alloy, 0.080” (1/95 mm) minimum thickness.
C. General Performance: Comply with performance requirements specified, as determined by testing of glazed aluminum curtain walls representing those indicated for this Project without failure due to defective manufacture, fabrication, installation, or other defects in construction.

1. Glazed aluminum curtain walls shall withstand movements of supporting structure, including, but not limited to, story drift, twist, column shortening, long-term creep, and deflection from uniformly distributed and concentrated live loads.
2. Failure also includes the following:
a. Thermal stresses transferring to building structure.
b. Glass breakage.
c. Noise or vibration created by wind and thermal and structural movements.
d. Loosening or weakening of fasteners, attachments, and other components.
e. Failure of operating units.
D. Structural Loads:
1. Wind Loads: As indicated on Drawings.
2. Other Design Loads: As indicated on Drawings.
E. Additional Performance Requirements: Provide aluminum curtain wall systems that comply with performance requirements indicated, as demonstrated by testing manufacturer’s assemblies in accordance with test method indicated.
1. Air Infiltration: Completed curtain wall systems shall have 0.06 CFM/FT2 (1.10 m3/h∙m2) maximum allowable infiltration when tested in accordance with ASTM E 283 at differential static pressure of 6.24 PSF (299 Pa).
2. Water Infiltration:
a. No uncontrolled water on indoor face of any component when tested in accordance with ASTM E 331 at a static pressure of 15 PSF (718 Pa).
3. Optional Incidental Water Management: Head member shall be capable of directing condensation from the wall cavity above the curtain wall to the exterior of the system.
4. Wind Loads: Completed curtain wall system shall withstand wind pressure loads normal to wall plane indicated:
a. Exterior Walls:
1) Positive Pressure:
2) Negative Pressure:
5. Deflection: Maximum allowable deflection in any member when tested in accordance with ASTM E 330 with allowable stress in accordance with AA Specifications for Aluminum Structures.
a. For spans up to 13’-6” (4.1m): L/175 maximum.
b. For spans greater than 13’-6” (4.1m) but less than 40’-0” (12.2m): L/175 or L/240
+ 1/4” (6.4mm).
6. Thermal Movement: Provide for thermal movement caused by 180 degrees F. (82.2 degrees C.) surface temperature. Without causing buckling stresses on glass, joint failure, undue stress on structural elements, damaging loads on fasteners, reduction of performance, or detrimental effects.
7. Thermal Performance for YCW 750 OGP when tested in accordance with AAMA 507, AMAA 1503, and NFRC 100:
a. Condensation Resistance Factor (CRFf): A minimum of 76.
b. Thermal Transmittance U Value: 0.37 BTU/HR/FT2/°F.
F. Structural: Test in accordance with ASTM 501-05 as follows:

1. When tested at positive and negative wind-load design pressures, assemblies do not evidence deflection exceeding specified limits.
2. When tested at 46 percent of positive and negative wind-load design pressures, assemblies, including anchorage, do not evidence material failures, structural distress, or permanent deformation of main framing members exceeding 0.2 percent of span.
3. Test Durations: As required by design wind velocity, but not less than 30 seconds.
G. Water Penetration under Static Pressure: Test in accordance with ASTM E331 as follows:
1. No evidence of water penetration through fixed glazing and framing areas when tested in accordance with a minimum static-air-pressure differential of 20 percent of positive wind-load design pressure, but not less than 20 psf.
H. Water Penetration under Dynamic Pressure: Test in accordance with AAMA 501.1 as follows:
1. No evidence of water penetration through fixed glazing and framing areas when tested at dynamic pressure equal to 20 percent of positive wind-load design pressure, but not less than 20 psf.
2. Maximum Water Leakage: In accordance with AAMA 501.1 and no uncontrolled water penetrating assemblies or water appearing on assemblies' normally exposed interior surfaces from sources other than condensation. Water leakage does not include water controlled by flashing and gutters or water that is drained to exterior.
I. Interstory Drift: Accommodate design displacement of adjacent stories indicated.
1. Design Displacement: As indicated on Drawings.

1. Fasteners: Zinc plated steel concealed fasteners; Hardened aluminum alloys or AISI 300 series stainless steel exposed fasteners, countersunk, finish to match aluminum color.
2. Sealant: System sealants selected by installer are to be permanently elastic, non-shrinking, non-migrating type recommended by sealant manufacturer for joint size, movement, and compatibility.
3. Glazing: Setting blocks, edge blocks, and spacers in accordance with ASTM C 864, shore durometer hardness as recommended by manufacturer; Glazing gaskets in accordance with ASTM C 864.
2.8 FABRICATION
A. Form or extrude aluminum shapes before finishing.
B. Weld in concealed locations to greatest extent possible to minimize distortion or discoloration of finish. Remove weld spatter and welding oxides from exposed surfaces by descaling or grinding.
C. Fabricate components that, when assembled, have the following characteristics:
1. Profiles that are sharp, straight, and free of defects or deformations.
2. Accurately fitted joints with ends coped or mitered.
3. Physical and thermal isolation of glazing from framing members.
4. Accommodations for thermal and mechanical movements of glazing and framing to maintain required glazing edge clearances.
5. Provisions for field replacement of glazing from exterior.
6. Fasteners, anchors, and connection devices that are concealed from view to greatest extent possible.
7. Components curved to indicated radii.
D. Fabricate components to resist water penetration as follows:
1. Internal guttering system or other means to drain water passing joints, condensation occurring within framing members, and moisture migrating within glazed aluminum curtain wall to exterior.
2. Pressure-equalized system or double barrier design with primary air and vapor barrier at interior side of glazed aluminum curtain wall and secondary seal weeped and vented to exterior.
E. Curtain-Wall Framing: Fabricate components for assembly using manufacturer's standard assembly method.

1. Rigidly secure nonmovement joints.
2. Prepare surfaces that are in contact with structural sealant in accordance with sealant manufacturer's written instructions, to ensure compatibility and adhesion. Preparation includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and priming surfaces.
3. Seal joints watertight unless otherwise indicated.
4. Install glazing to comply with requirements in Section 088000 "Glazing."
5. Install structural glazing.
a. Set glazing into framing in accordance with sealant manufacturer and framing manufacturer’s written instructions and standard practice. Use a spacer or backer as recommended by manufacturer.
b. Set glazing with proper orientation so that coatings face exterior or interior as specified.
c. Apply structural silicone sealant to completely fill cavity, in accordance with sealant manufacturers written instructions with the framing and glazing in a fully supported position.
d. Brace or stiffen framing and glazing in such a manner to prevent undue stresses on the glass edge seal and structural joints or movement of the glazing, until sealant is fully cured in accordance with manufacturer?s recommendations.
e. After structural sealant has completely cured, insert backer rod between lites of glass as recommended by sealant manufacturer.
f. Install weatherseal sealant to completely fill cavity, in accordance with sealant manufacturer's written instructions, to produce weatherproof joints.
g. Clean and protect glass as indicated in Section 088000 "Glazing."
h. Retain bracing or stiffening until erected to prevent racking of units during transportation and erection.
G. After fabrication, clearly mark components to identify their locations in Project in accordance with Shop Drawings.
H. Shop Assembly: Fabricate and assemble units with joints only at intersection of aluminum members with hairline joints; rigidly secure, and sealed in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
2.9 ALUMINUM FINISHES
A. Superior-Performance Organic Finish, Three-Coat PVDF: Fluoropolymer finish complying with AAMA 2605 and containing not less than 70 percent PVDF resin by weight in both color coat and clear topcoat.
1. Prepare, pretreat, and apply coating to exposed metal surfaces to comply with coating and resin manufacturers' written instructions for seacoast and severe environments.
2. Gloss: As indicated by manufacturer's designations.
B. YKK AP America, with High Performance Organic Coating Finish:
C. Anodized Finishing: Prepare aluminum surfaces for specified finish; apply shop finish in accordance with the following:

1. Anodic Coating: Electrolytic color coating followed by an organic seal applied in accordance with the requirements of AAMA 612. Aluminum extrusions shall be produced from quality controlled billets meeting AA-6063-T5.
a. Exposed Surfaces shall be free of scratches and other serious blemishes.
b. Extrusions shall be given a caustic etch followed by an anodic oxide treatment and then sealed with an organic coating applied with an electrodeposition process.
c. The anodized coating shall comply with all of the requirements of AAMA 612:
Voluntary Specifications, Performance Requirements and Test Procedures for Combined Coatings of Anodic Oxide and Transparent Organic Coatings on Architectural Aluminum. Testing shall demonstrate the ability of the finish to resist damage from mortar, salt spray, and chemicals commonly found on construction sites, and to resist the loss of color and gloss.
d. Overall coating thickness for finishes shall be a minimum of 0.7 mils.
D. High Performance Organic Coating Finish:
1. Fluoropolymer Type: Factory applied two-coat 70% Kynar resin by Arkema or 70%
Hylar resin by Solvay Solexis, fluoropolymer-based coating system, Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVF-2), applied in accordance with YKK AP procedures and meeting AAMA 2605 specifications.
2. Colors: Selected by Architect from the following:
a. Standard coating color charts.
b. Custom coating color charts.
c. Color Name and Number.
E. Finishes Testing:
1. Apply 0.5% solution NaOH, sodium hydroxide, to small area of finished sample area;
leave in place for sixty minutes; lightly wipe off NaOH; do not clean area further.
2. Submit samples with test area noted on each sample.
2.10 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL
A. Structural Sealant: Perform quality-control procedures complying with ASTM C1401 recommendations, including, but not limited to, assembly material qualification procedures, sealant testing, and assembly fabrication reviews and checks.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine areas, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.
B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 INSTALLATION, GENERAL
A. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions.
B. Do not install damaged components.
C. Fit joints to produce hairline joints free of burrs and distortion.
D. Rigidly secure nonmovement joints.
E. Install anchors with separators and isolators to prevent metal corrosion and electrolytic deterioration and to prevent impeding movement of moving joints.
F. Where welding is required, weld components in concealed locations to minimize distortion or discoloration of finish. Protect glazing surfaces from welding.
G. Seal joints watertight unless otherwise indicated.
H. Metal Protection:
1. Where aluminum is in contact with dissimilar metals, protect against galvanic action by painting contact surfaces with primer, applying sealant or tape, or installing nonconductive spacers as recommended by manufacturer for this purpose.
2. Where aluminum is in contact with concrete or masonry, protect against corrosion by painting contact surfaces with bituminous paint.
I. Install components to drain water passing joints, condensation occurring within framing members, and moisture migrating within glazed aluminum curtain wall to exterior.
J. Install components plumb and true in alignment with established lines and grades.
3.3 INSTALLATION OF OPERABLE UNITS
A. Install operable units level and plumb, securely anchored, and without distortion. Adjust weather-stripping contact and hardware movement to produce proper operation.
3.4 INSTALLATION OF GLAZING
A. Install glazing as specified in Section 088000 "Glazing."
3.5 INSTALLATION OF STRUCTURAL GLAZING
A. Prepare surfaces that will contact structural sealant in accordance with sealant manufacturer's written instructions, to ensure compatibility and adhesion. Preparation includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and priming surfaces.

B. Set glazing into framing in accordance with sealant manufacturer's and framing manufacturer?s written instructions and standard practice. Use a spacer or backer as recommended by manufacturer.
C. Set glazing with proper orientation, so that coatings face exterior or interior as specified.
D. Hold glazing in place using temporary retainers of type and spacing recommended by manufacturer, until structural sealant joint has cured.
E. Apply structural sealant to completely fill cavity, in accordance with sealant manufacturer's and framing manufacturer's written instructions and in compliance with local codes.
F. Apply structural sealant at temperatures indicated by sealant manufacturer for type of sealant.
G. Allow structural sealant to cure in accordance with manufacturer?s recommendations.
H. Clean and protect glass as indicated in Section 088000 "Glazing."
3.6 INSTALLATION OF WEATHERSEAL SEALANT
A. After structural sealant has completely cured, remove temporary retainers and insert backer rod between lites of glass, as recommended by sealant manufacturer.
B. Install weatherseal sealant to completely fill cavity, in accordance with sealant manufacturer's written instructions, to produce weatherproof joints.
3.7 ERECTION TOLERANCES
A. Install glazed aluminum curtain walls to comply with the following maximum tolerances:
1. Plumb: 1/8 inch in 10 feet (3.2 mm in 3 m); 1/4 inch in 40 feet (6.35 mm in 12.2 m).
2. Level: 1/8 inch in 20 feet (3.2 mm in 6 m); 1/4 inch in 40 feet (6.35 mm in 12.2 m).
3. Alignment:
a. Where surfaces abut in line or are separated by reveal or protruding element up to 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) wide, limit offset from true alignment to 1/16 inch (1.6 mm).
b. Where surfaces are separated by reveal or protruding element from 1/2 to 1 inch (12.7 to 25.4 mm) wide, limit offset from true alignment to 1/8 inch (3.2 mm).
c. Where surfaces are separated by reveal or protruding element of 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide or more, limit offset from true alignment to 1/4 inch (6 mm).
4. Location: Limit variation from plane to 1/8 inch in 12 feet (3.2 mm in 3.6 m); 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) over total length.
3.8 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Testing Agency: Owner will engage a qualified testing agency to perform tests and inspections.

B. Test Area: Perform tests on one bay at least 30 feet (9.1 m), by one story.
C. Field Quality-Control Testing: Perform the following test on representative areas of glazed aluminum curtain walls.
1. Water-Spray Test: Before installation of interior finishes has begun, areas designated by Architect shall be tested in accordance with AAMA 501.2 and shall not evidence water penetration.
a. Perform a minimum of two tests in areas as directed by Architect.
b. Perform tests in each test area as directed by Architect. Perform at least three tests, prior to 10, 35, and 70 percent completion.
2. Air Leakage: ASTM E783 at 1.5 times the rate specified for laboratory testing in "Performance Requirements" Article but not more than 0.09 cfm/sq. ft. (0.45 L/s per
sq. m) at a static-air-pressure differential of 1.57 lbf/sq. ft. (75 Pa).
a. Perform a minimum of two tests in areas as directed by Architect.
b. Perform tests in each test area as directed by Architect. Perform at least three tests, prior to 10, 35, and 70 percent completion.
3. Water Penetration: ASTM E1105 at a minimum uniform and cyclic static-air-pressure differential of 0.67 times the static-air-pressure differential specified for laboratory testing in "Performance Requirements" Article, but not less than 6.24 lbf/sq. ft. (300 Pa), and shall not evidence water penetration.
D. Structural-Sealant Adhesion: Test structural sealant in accordance with recommendations in ASTM C1401, Destructive Test Method A, "Hand Pull Tab (Destructive)," Appendix X2.
1. Test a minimum of two areas on each building facade.
2. Repair installation areas damaged by testing.
E. Glazed aluminum curtain walls will be considered defective if they do not pass tests and inspections.
F. Prepare test and inspection reports.
3.9 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
A. Adjusting: Adjust operating items as recommended by manufacturer.
B. Cleaning: The General Contractor shall clean installed products in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions prior to Owner’s acceptance, and remove construction debris from project site. Legally dispose of debris.
C. Protection: The General Contractor shall protect installed product’s finish surfaces from damage during construction.
