Responses to Question for Freezer Project 3C6W

From Contractor 1:

Combo

1. What are the dimensions of both the cooler and freezer compartments?

A: Dimensions are nominal, see attached drawing.

2. Confirm if this an outdoor walk‐in?

A: NOT an outdoor walk‐in. This is an indoor drive in cooler & drive in freezer.

3. Confirm if you need a floor in the cooler?

A: Existing concrete floor will be sufficient for cooler.

4. Confirm if an interior OR exterior ramp is needed and in which compartments?

A: Interior and exterior ramps are NOT needed, as these are drive‐in units.

5. Which walls and positioning should the doors be placed on?

A: See attached drawing for wall and door positioning.

6. Left or right hinged entry door (for the 36” x 78” cooler door?

A: The 36”x78” cooler door has been removed from the scope of work and is not needed.

7. Lag or Cam ceiling?

A: Cam.

8. Remote or self‐contained refrigeration?

A: Remote refrigeration, refrigerant installed should be non‐ozone depleting.

9. Confirm electrical available?

A: Electric service is available. Current service installed is: 208 – 230 3 phase

10. Confirm if you need LED Lighting?

A: LED lighting is required.

11. Confirm if strip curtains or an air curtain is needed over the sliding doors?

A: Both strip curtains and air curtain are needed over sliding doors

12. Confirm kick plates on INSIDE/OUTSIDE of 36x78”door?

A: The 36”x78” cooler door has been removed from the scope of work and is not needed.

13. Confirm if locks are needed on the doors?

A: Latches are required which can secure the door closed to each unit. Latches must be able to accept a pad lock to prevent inmate tampering. Pad lock will be provide by BOP.

14. Confirm temps of both the cooler/freezer compartments?

A: Design run temps for the freezer is ‐20° with maximum temperature of ‐10°F. Design run temps for the cooler is 35°F with a minimum temperature of 30°F and maximum temp of 35°F.

Freezer

1. Confirm unit location – indoor or outdoor?

A: Unit is located inside the warehouse building.

2. Door?

A: 36” x 78” door should be installed on the south wall of the unit

3. Position of door on the chosen wall (centered, # feet from either left or right side)?

A: Door to be centered on wall

4. Left or right hinged door?

A: Right hinged door

5. Remote or self‐contained refrigeration?

A: Remote refrigeration, refrigerant installed should be non‐ozone depleting.

6. Confirm electrical available?

A: Electric service is available. Current service installed is: 208 – 230 3 phase

7. Confirm if you need LED Lighting?

A: LED lighting is required.

8. Confirm if kick plates on INSIDE/OUTSIDE or 36”x78”door?

A: Kick plates on NOT required on the 36” x 78” door

9. Confirm if locks are needed on doors?

A: Latches are required which can secure the door closed to each unit. Latches must be able to accept a pad lock to prevent inmate tampering. Pad lock will be provide by BOP.

10. Confirm product temperature?

A: Design run temps for the freezer is ‐20° with maximum temperature of ‐10°F.

11. Is product already frozen when entering freezer?

A: Yes

Freight

1. Do you need any special service?

A: No.

From Contractor 2:

1. Please provide the dimension of the combo unit?

A: Dimensions are nominal. See attached drawing

2. Is the unit 50/50?

A: cooler/freezer space is NOT 50/50, see attached drawing

From Contractor 3:

1. Please clarify minimum and maximum temperature requirements for freezers and cooler?

A: Design run temps for the freezer is ‐20° with maximum temperature of ‐10°F. Design run temps for the cooler is 35°F with a minimum temperature of 30°F and maximum temp of 35°F.

2. Please clarify lighting requirements‐(foot candles, watt/sq. foot)

A: Lighting levels inside the coolers and freezers should be 10 footcandles/sq. ft. or greater.

3. Please clarigy type of lighting?

A: Lighting type to be LED

4. Please clarify if any temperature alarms are required and what type?

A: Audible temperature alarms are required for the coolers, to alert the immediate area, with a local silencing feature. Remote alarms will be installed and provide by BOP staff after project is completed.

From Contractor 4:

1. Should compressors be Semi Hermetic?

A: Compressors should be semi‐hermetic

2. If the existing power supply for the new condensing units is not of sufficient size (amperage), please confirm FCI Marianna will upgrade to meet the new requirements?

A: Existing electrical service is available, which is: 208 – 230 3 phase. If new condensing units require an electrical upgrade, contractor will be responsible for any upsizing of the breaker, conduit, wiring, etc. from the breaker box to the unit(s) and condensers/compressors, etc.

There is sufficient electric service to the building’s breaker box to upsize, if needed.

3. Please confirm Marianna FCI will provide the power supply for new cooler attached to large freezer?

A: Existing electrical service is available, which is: 208 – 230 3 phase. New electrical service to the new location of the cooler will be required, and will be the responsibility of the contractor.

Contractor will be responsible for any upsizing of the breaker, conduit, wiring, etc. from the breaker box to the unit(s) and condensers/compressors, etc. There is sufficient electric service to the building’s breaker box to add additional service.

4. Please confirm the warranty period for panels, refrigeration equipment, and workmanship will be one year with additional 4 years on compressor parts only?

A: Warranty period for workmanship is 1 year. Panels, refrigeration equipment warranty per manufacturer’s warranty. Compressor parts only warranty to be five years.

5. Please confirm cooler ceiling waterproofing requirements, and the recommended material to use?

A: Cooler ceiling waterproofing requirement are per manufacturer which provides an insulated and water tight roof cap for all freezer and cooler units.

6. Does the scope of work include existing refrigeration systems to be demoed and removed from

FCI property?

A: Existing refrigeration systems, coolers, etc. to be demolished and removed from FCI site is included in this Scope of Work.
