About this file
This document outlines the delivery schedule and requirements for a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) food service contract. All awarded food items must be delivered between July 20, 2026 and July 31, 2026, with no deliveries accepted after the July 31 deadline. Deliveries are restricted to Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 2:00 pm, and contractors should contact the Food Service warehouse at (919) 575-5000, extension 1441 or 1058 to arrange delivery times.
The document specifies strict delivery and product requirements. All deliveries must be palletized unless prior alternative arrangements have been approved by warehouse staff. Non-frozen perishable foods must maintain temperatures between 34°F and 40°F, while frozen foods must be delivered at 0°F or below; any product showing evidence of prior thawing will be refused. All items must comply with BOP National Menu Specifications, and contractors are responsible for obtaining and understanding these specifications before submitting quotes. Certified Religious Diet Items must be clearly marked or face rejection. The Government reserves the right to conditionally receive items for up to three days for inspection and testing, including thawing and cooking as needed. Items failing to meet specifications will be refused, and conditionally received items found unacceptable must be picked up by the vendor within two weeks at vendor expense or will be disposed of by the Government. Contractors who fail to meet delivery schedules without excusable delay or fail to conform to specifications will experience negative impacts to their past performance record, potentially affecting future award decisions and eligibility for subsequent solicitations.
