About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the CMXG 530th Spindle Overhaul issued by the U.S. Air Force's 309th Commodities Maintenance Group (CMXG) located at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah, dated October 6, 2025.

The contractor shall rebuild three spindles to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications at the contractor's facility. The Government will ship the spindles to the contractor for overhaul, and the contractor must perform a comprehensive evaluation and rebuild of each spindle, followed by a functionality check upon completion. The contractor is responsible for all labor, supplies, tooling, and equipment required for the overhaul work. The contractor shall document the overhaul process in a Process Completion Report (CDRL A001) for every component, certifying completion of each spindle rebuild to original manufacturing specifications. Upon completion, the contractor shall ship the spindles back to Hill AFB and provide a standard commercial warranty on the rebuilt spindles.

The Government will furnish the spindles as Government Furnished Property (GFP), which will be identified on a Material Inspection and Receiving Report (DD 250). The contractor shall complete and return the DD 250 form with the completed spindles for Government inspection and acceptance. The contractor is liable for any loss, damage, destruction, or theft while GFP is in the contractor's possession and is responsible for returning all GFP to the Government at the destination specified in the contract.

1 SCOPE

This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the Spindle Overhaul. The contractor shall provide all labor, supplies, tooling, and equipment required to overhaul spindles back to original manufacturer specifications. The services shall be performed at the contractor’s facility in support of the 309 Commodities Maintenance Group (CMXG) located at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah.

2 BASIC SERVICES

2.1 The contractor shall rebuild three spindles to bring them to OEM specifications.

2.2 The Government will ship the spindles to the Contractor’s facility for the rebuild.

2.3 The contractor shall perform an overhaul of each spindle to evaluate requirements needed to bring the spindles back to OEM standards.

2.4 Once the spindle rebuilds are completed, the contractor shall perform a functionality check

2.5 The overhaul process will be documented on a Process Completion Report for every component (CDRL A001). The contractor shall provide a Process Completion Report to include all component processes; this document certifies completion of each spindle being rebuilt back to the original manufacturing specifications.

2.6 Upon completion of Spindle Assembly overhauls, the contractor shall ship the spindles back to Hill AFB.

2.7 The contractor shall provide a standard commercial warranty on the rebuilt spindles.

3 GENERAL SERVICES

3.1 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY (GFP)

Suggestion: The contractor shall perform an overhaul of each spindle to evaluate requirements needed to bring the spindles back to OEM standards

PADGETT, DAVID N CIV USAF AFMC OL_H/PZIMB

Overhaul means to open and examine to evaluate damage and repair. This paragraph is already explaining this, yet it says "then" the ctr shall overhaul. Doesn’t make sense to me. Please reword.

PADGETT, DAVID N CIV USAF AFMC OL_H/PZIMB

The CDRL states this is a "report" and not a "certification". Do you require a cert? If so, need to update the DID.

PADGETT, DAVID N CIV USAF AFMC OL_H/PZIMB

Only one document or do we need one for each spindle? Is the Process Completion Cert DID/CDRL designed to include more than one spindle on a single certification? Needs to be clear.

MCFARLAND, KENNADIE L CIV USAF AFMC 309 CMXG/MXDSR

One document for all of them. Corrected wording

PADGETT, DAVID N CIV USAF AFMC OL_H/PZIMB

How many spindles are we dealing with? We do not use hand receipts unless we are in the 100s or 1000s. If there are a few spindles, then we will generate a GFP list and this bullet goes away.

3.1.3 While GFP is in the contractor’s possession the contractor is liable for any loss, damage, destruction, or theft.

3.1.4 The contractor is responsible for returning all GFP to the Government after repair is complete at the destination specified in the contract.
