About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for market research on tools, techniques, and best practices for developing, integrating, and maintaining a large cloud-based environment to support their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) operational mission.

The RFI seeks industry input on the incumbent contractor, current contract details, anticipated scope and costs, the status of AWIPS modernization and migration to the cloud, security and compliance requirements, data management and resilience, workforce readiness, and other technical and operational details. Responses will help inform NOAA's requirements and acquisition approach for the follow-on AWIPS contract, currently anticipated to have a solicitation in February 2025 and a contract start date of September 1, 2027. NOAA is encouraging responses from small businesses and may host an industry day event. Responses are due by October 30, 2024.
