II. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT

The Department of the Interior on behalf of the Bureau of Reclamation, Denver Federal Center, Denver, Colorado is conducting market research to identify qualified and capable sources for replacement and installation of a Low Ambient Pressure Chamber (LAPC). This requirement includes purchase, delivery, and installation of one pump, motor, and variable frequency drive (VFD) and associated hardware or components for the low ambient pressure chamber facility, and the removal and disposal of existing equipment.

1. Introduction – The Denver Federal Center Hydraulics Laboratory utilizes a Low Ambient Pressure Chamber (LAPC) facility to conduct cavitation research experiments for dams and related structures and equipment. It is a unique facility that allows real-world cavitation conditions to be applied within a laboratory experiment. Existing equipment has passed its expected service life and needs to be replaced. This project involves procuring, delivering, and installing a pump, motor, and variable frequency drive, providing electrical connections, and disposing of old equipment.

2. Definitions – mailto:michelle_romine@ios.doi.gov
