Synopsis: ***NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE*** The Bureau of Reclamation Acquisition intends to solicit from a single source – Colorado State Department of Natural Resources to provide operation and maintenance of hydrologic equipment that monitors the stream flow in the Gunnison River below the Redland Diversion Dam, and the stream flow in Basin Creek at the Mouth near Durango below the Ridges Basin Dam on the Animas-La Plata Project and stream flow in East and West Rifle Creek with the end goal of providing accurate, real time data to be published publicly via the State's internet site.

In 1993 the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and the State of Colorado (State) came to an agreement to remotely monitor the river flow on the Gunnison River below the Redland Diversion for the benefit of both parties. The necessary equipment was installed in 1994 and has been operated and maintained by the State every year since with the BOR's funding support.

In 2014 the BOR and the State came to an agreement to remotely monitor the stream flow in Basin Creek at the Mouth near Durango below Ridges Basin Dam on the Animas-La Plata Project for the benefit of both parties. The BOR installed the necessary equipment in June 2014 and it will be operated and maintained by the State with the BOR's funding support.

In 2019, USGS operation of the East and West Rifle Creek gages were going to cease. These gages are used significantly by the state for administration and may be used by Reclamation to verify inflows into Rifle Gap reservoir and assist in reservoir operations.
