Synopsis: ***NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE*** The Bureau of Reclamation Acquisition intends to solicit from a single source – Colorado State Forest Service to provide Vegetation and Forest Management Services at Ridgeway State Park located 22 miles south of Montrose, Colorado and 4 miles north of Ridgway, Colorado along US Highway 550. The park is situated in the northern portion of Ouray County and is surrounded by private land and small portions of BLM and State Wildlife Areas. There are three main entrances to the park: Dutch Charlie, Dallas Creek, and Pa-Co-Chu-Puk. The primary goals are to decrease hazardous fuels and to reduce the future wildland fire risk potential. Secondary goals are to increase overall forest health, vigor and structure of the forest stands to maintain and improve habitat diversity for wildlife and migration corridors and improve forest aesthetics.

Work will consist of thinning and/or patch cuts by mastication and/or hand work. To reduce damaging crown fires, Contractor will thin to a minimum of a 10-foot crown spacing. Contractor will thin strategically to ensure healthy trees with good growth form and limited insect and disease damage are left as residual trees. Contractor will also incorporate patchy and clumpy management objectives to retain different age and size classes while reducing heavy downed woody fuels, ladder fuels and creating openings between clumps and tree crowns resulting in a mosaic that is beneficial for plant diversity and wildlife.

This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes/proposals and does not constitute a commitment by the Government. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this notice.
