PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The principal components of the work are listed under the project description below.

Glen Canyon Power Plant was built in the 1950’s and completed in 1964. Glen Canyon has four river outlet pipes that are used to release water to meet high flow requirements and drought issues. The river outlet pipes at Glen Canyon Power Plant have not been relined since the power plant has been completed. The outlet pipes range from approximately 22,300 ft2 – 22,800 ft2 with a 50o degree incline. The work entails the following.

Control ponding, seeping and flowing leakage water in outlet works during relining operations.

• Abrasive blast clean surfaces to remove corrosion and existing linings, create a surface profile, and apply a new lining system on interior surfaces of outlet works pipes from bell mouth transition to hollow jet valve. Including manhole covers interior and exterior.

• Abrasive blast clean surfaces to remove corrosion and existing coating, create a surface profile, and recoat the exterior of exposed drain lines for outlet works pipes 1 and 2.

• High pressure waterjet clean to remove corrosion and existing lining and apply new surface tolerant lining for drain lines on outlet works pipes 1 and 2.

• Contain, handle, and dispose of hazardous coating materials.

Due to different demands for the outlet river pipes such as endangered fish act, power demand and drought the scheduling of work on the pipes could be expedited or delayed depending on the above demands. Each river outlet pipe will be processed as an option. Contract will be awarded as a base with 3 options.
