About this file
This document is a set of contractor questions and answers for a Friant Crane Inspection Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) related to crane inspection services at the Friant Dam. The Q&A addresses logistical details about crane load testing, including driving distances within the complex, recommended lift standards, and water weight testing procedures. Key points include that most driving will occur within the facility complex, cranes have been previously inspected but not load tested, and the contractor is responsible for providing water bags for load testing. The accompanying map details crane locations, roadway restrictions, and weight limitations for bridges, with red circles indicating crane locations, yellow lines showing Bureau property roadways, green lines representing public roadways, and blue rectangles marking bridges with a 15-ton weight limit.

Friant Crane Inspection BPA Solicitation 140R2025Q0036 A0001
1. Can you give me a rough idea of how far apart each crane is? Will we be driving more than a mile from crane to crane?
Most of the driving will be within the complex. Please see attachment.
2. What size lift is recommended or needed?
I would refer them to the ANSI/ASME standard.
Load Testing: Cranes are typically subjected to load testing, where they are tested with a specified load (often 125% of the rated load capacity). This is to ensure that the crane can safely handle overloading conditions.
3. Are any of the cranes currently certified using a method A?
All cranes have been inspected and passed inspection. Cranes have not been load tested.
4. Who is supplying the test weights?
Contractor is responsible of providing water bags per the SOW
5. If we are supplying are water weights acceptable? Are we able to pump and dump the necessary water?
Water is available at the facility for them to fill out their water tanks for the bags.
For water dumping, water could be dump in the lake, canals or river since it is project water.
