About this file
This document outlines construction constraints and sequencing for a federal construction project. The project involves capacity corrections to the FKC Middle Reach canal and includes replacing irrigation district pipelines at roadway siphon sites, modifying pipelines at new canal conflicts, and addressing pipelines crossing the existing canal assumed to be abandoned. Contractors must conduct exploratory excavations to locate existing underground facilities and prepare submittals detailing temporary piping connections for maintaining water supply during work on siphons. Submittals are also required for the permanent pipeline designs at each siphon site. The project specifications identify six drainage culvert locations and two storm drain pump stations that are part of the work. Close coordination will be required with irrigation districts to address conflicts and ensure uninterrupted water delivery during construction.

D. Irrigation District Pipelines – There are several locations where existing Irrigation Districts’ delivery system pipelines are in conflict with the WORK. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for temporary, or permanent relocations, or both, or abandonment of existing Irrigation Districts pipelines. These pipelines can be grouped into three main categories; a) pipelines to be replaced at roadway siphon sites, b) pipelines to be modified, replaced, and relocated at canal conflicts at the new canal, and c) irrigation pipelines (assumed to be abandoned) that cross the existing FKC and are assumed to continue east and may be in conflict with the WORK. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for all exploratory excavations in order to assess locations of existing facilities and appropriate connection locations based upon the location of existing facilities. CONTRACTOR shall prepare a pothole plan submittal showing planned locations of all exploratory excavations, and a pothole report submittal providing the details of all exploratory excavations performed.
Pothole report data shall include dates, locations excavated, materials of construction, surface elevations, facility elevations, sizes, and dimensioned sketches
1. Irrigation District delivery system pipelines to be replaced at roadway siphon sites. No disruption to the water supply being conveyed by these water pipelines shall be allowed (unless noted otherwise below). The CONTRACTOR shall design and provide any temporary piping connections needed during construction of the roadway siphons that conflict with these existing facilities.
The CONTRACTOR shall prepare a submittal for each temporary piping connection (grouped by Irrigation District ownership) that details the materials of construction, locations and types of connections (based upon exploratory excavations). The CONTRACTOR shall provide a permanent pipeline submittal
