About this file
This document is a revised specification for steel pipe, steel liner, and fiberglass reinforced plastic pipe to be provided under Solicitation No. 140R1723Q0005 from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation for the Kachess Dam Modification Phase 2 project in Yakima, Washington. The specification provides requirements for steel flanges per AWWA C207, butt-welding steel fittings per ASME B16.9 and ASTM A234 or A420, threaded fittings per ASME B1.20.1 and steel grades per ASME B16.11 and ASTM A105 or A865. Fiberglass reinforced plastic pipe must meet AWWA C950 and ASTM D3517 requirements for Type 1 glass fiber reinforced thermosetting polyester resin mortar pipe with a reinforced thermoset liner and polyester resin surface layer. Pipe stiffness must be a minimum of 36 psi and pressure rating as specified in the drawings. Joints must be adhesive or epoxy bonded bell and spigot ends or connected with an axially restrained coupling. Flanged connections for FRP pipe must meet ASTM D4024 and be suitable for connection to AWWA Class D flanges.
