About this file

This document consists of Questions and Answers related to a federal contract opportunity for the replacement of a bridge crane main hoist VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) and DBU (Dynamic Braking Unit) at the AP6491 facility.

The key details are:

  • This is a brand-new contract, with no incumbent vendor currently performing these services.
  • The main hoist has a previously installed VFD system that has internal boards that have failed and are no longer supported by the manufacturer due to the age of the VFD.
  • An existing festoon cable system is in place between the bridge and trolley, which the contractor is expected to propose a replacement design for.
  • The mechanical load brake is still enabled when the load is stationary, and the VFD is used during load movement.
  • The main hoist is controlled by an OEM single axis controller type MS2 located in the cab. The solicitation number is 140R1024Q0012, and the procurement is being conducted by the Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation.
