About this file

This is a Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) Analysis Report for asbestos testing conducted by Schneider Laboratories Global, Inc. on behalf of Advantage Environmental for a property located at 811 Lamoraux Drive, Sausalito, California (Project Number 23-416, Order #509433).

Six bulk samples were collected on March 16, 2023, and analyzed on March 21, 2023, using EPA 600/R-93/116 and 40 CFR Appendix E, Subpart E, Part 763 methodology. Samples 509433-001 through 509433-004 consisted of tar felt paper materials collected from various roof locations (west end flashing, west end field, east end field, and east end flashing). All four samples contained two layers: Layer 1 (tar, black bituminous) showed no asbestos detected with 100% non-fibrous material composition, and Layer 2 (felt paper, black fibrous/bituminous) showed no asbestos detected with 40% mineral/glass wool and 60% non-fibrous material. Samples 509433-005 and 509433-006 were wet patch materials collected from roof penetration areas (east end and west end). Both samples contained 10% chrysotile asbestos and 90% non-fibrous material, with individual layers unable to be separated due to the soft, bituminous nature of the material. The EPA regulatory limit is 1%, and the reporting limit is 1% gravimetrically reduced to 0.01%. The analysis was conducted by Thoria Nadiem and reviewed by Laboratory Director Ben Wood.

Reporting Limit: 1% Gravimetrically Reduced Reporting Limit: 0.01% PLM analysis is based on Visual Estimation and NESHAP recommends that any friable sample with an asbestos content less than 10 percent be verified by Point Count or TEM Analysis. The EPA recommends that any attic loose fill vermiculite should be treated as asbestos containing material. This report must not be reproduced except in full with the approval of the laboratory. The test results apply to the sample as received.
