RFQ 140P8524Q0092

LOADER WITH SNOW BLOWER ATTACHMENT FOR YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK

Questions and Answers

The following are questions and answers received during the RFQ:

1. Will the park accept a Sawtooth L44 snowblower in lieu of a Kodiak LMSC3644?

a. Answer: The Kodiak LMSC3644 is included in the specifications as “Brand Name or equal”. If the equipment meets the specifications provided it will be considered technically acceptable.

2. Will the park accept 3/8” ribbon thickness instead of ½”?

a. Answer: No, ½ inch ribbons are required as included in the specifications.

3. The spec calls for “100-gallon rear mounted fuel tank”. It also mentions the same on the loader.

Can you confirm that the park does not want a fuel tank on their snow blower but rather they want a 100-gallon fuel tank mounted on the rear of the loader that would run the snow blower in addition to a fuel tank for the loader?

a. Answer: The rear mounted fuel tank is required as specified. The loader will have its factory fuel tank that the loader itself runs off. On the rear of the loader is an additional fuel tank that the blower runs off. This transfers all the fuel and tank weight to the rear of the loader for safer operation.

4. The spec calls for a Cutting edge of 108-132 inches but also a plow width of 120-124 inches. Our standard is a 108” cutting edge and a 116” overall cutting width. Will this be acceptable?

a. Yes. Please see revised specifications attached.

5. Our total height to the top of the engine enclosure is 73”. This is slightly less than the spec. Will this be acceptable?

a. Answer: Yes. Please see revised specifications attached.

6. Our unit length is 113” long to the back of the fusion quick hitch. Will this be acceptable?

a. Answer: Yes. Please see revised specifications attached.

7. Please explain why the horsepower listed on the specifications for the snowblower is a critical element. If a snowblower with the same clearing capacity has a lower HP is this sufficient?

a. Answer: The horsepower is necessary due to the type of snow we are removing. We have a history of overheating if the engine is not at the capacity we need. Typically, in the Sierras we have heavy wet snow that requires a larger horsepower engine. Therefore the horsepower listed in the specifications is firm and must be adhered to.

A total of 7 questions were received in response to this solicitation as of July 22nd, 2024.
