Questions and Answers

Solicitation #140P8424Q0125

Lassen Volcanic National Park

Hazard Tree Mitigation, HQ Water Tank

1. While visiting the Tank Site, the question of how deep the water line coming out of the existing water storage tank came up.

ANSWER: Approximately 4’ average but we will be pulling up as-builts that “should identify actual depths of the lines in question. This said, the direction of fall should be supportive of the actual fall which should not affect any of the lines.

2. It was mentioned in the solicitation that the contractor shall pull brush to the side of the road after trees were limbed. There was discussion to change. After speaking with our Fire

Management Officer after the site visit, it was determined that the slash would need to be drug to the side of the road for removal as originally planned.

3. It was determined that two trees were felled during the fire to mitigate any additional threats

“IF” the fire had reached Mineral Headquarters which it did not.

These two trees were the…

24” DBH tree with a 60’ height “Behind the Fire Management Building”, as noted on the provided sheet in the SOW, and the …

32” DBH tree with an 80’ height “Behind the Trails Building”, as noted on the provided sheet in the SOW

Three more trees were identified that I would like to include in this solicitation:

Tree 1- Near the Seismometer Buildings, there was a 26” tree roughly 50’ in height.

Tree 2- Near the Seismometer Building, the was a 30” tree roughly 65’ in height.

Tree 3- Behind Bldg. 10, there was an additional 24” DBH tree roughly 60’ in height.
