Modular Boardwalk

OHIO MAJOR ACQUISITION
SPECIFICATIONS FOR ADA BOARDWALK SUPPLIES
(Based off of Wickcraft Company connecting system)
This is a brand name or “or equal” requirement, must meet or exceed, based on the following specifications. If providing an “or equal” product, must supply product specifications with quote.
Specification based off of Wickcraft Company connecting system.
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.10 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Furnish a galvanized structural steel framed boardwalk with non-penetrating adjustable legs and pressure treated lumber decking, including all fittings, accessories, and fresheners in accordance with the plans.
1.02 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data:
a. Manufacturer’s material data sheets
b. Installation process and requirements
c. Shop drawings for all components of the steel frame walkway and deck system
d. Structural calculation for key boardwalk elements
e. All welders must provide verified American Welders Society (AWS) certified welders.
B. Certificate of steel origin (United States) C. Proof of business operation in good standing with the State of Wisconsin
PART 2- PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS
A. 82 EA. 6’ wide x 6’ long galvanized modular boardwalk, Southern Yellow pine decking and ADA toe rail.
B. All frames must meet or exceed International Building Code requirements of 100 psf load capacity.
C. Galvanized structural steel frame sections constructed from ASTM A500 Structural Steel.
D. Frame connections to be fabricated from ¼” A36 Structural Steel.
E. All frame connections must use the Posi-Loc ® and Posi-Trus® connection (or approved equal) and be interchangeable with existing system.
F. All frame connections must connect with a removable pin hinge. Frames must be removable mid-trail post assembly for maintenance.
G. Legs and leg-sleeves to be fabricated from ASTM A500 Structural Steel pipe. Legs, frames and baseplate must separate components to aid in transportation and installation.
H. Entire post-fabrication frame assembly to be hot dipped galvanized (HDG) with a minimum of
3.9 mill thickness of zinc-based galvanizing.
I. All post-galvanized frame assemblies must be hand rasped and free of any sharp edges without compromising the galvanized integrity.
J. All decking must meet or exceed International Building Code requirements of 100psf load capacity.
K. All hardware, including deck screws, to be stainless steel.
L. Frame sections are to be adjustable and leveling. Height adjustments are to be constrained with a 3/8 set bolt and 2-1/4 self-tapping screws per leg.
M. All deck boards must be screwed from below so the screw line is not visible from the walking surface.
N. All boardwalk surfaces are to follow Americans with Disabilities Accessibility Guidelines.
2.02 WARRANTY
A. Vendor must be able to demonstrate ability to back any warranty provided. Must demonstrate with years of service, financial stability, and operational assets.
B. Workmanship of the frames is warrantied against defect for the life of the boardwalk. During this period, if the product is covered by the warranty and fails under normal use, manufacturer will repair or replace at original owners’ discretion. The decking and other non-frame elements of the boardwalk are excluded. “Lifetime” is defined as the lifetime of the product in use.
C. Material warranty of all non-boardwalk frame material is that of the original manufacturer.
Non-boardwalk material includes but is not limited to decks, handrail, curb rail, benches, or other fixtures.
PART 3 – EXISTING TRAIL FOOTPRINT
3.00 EXISTING TRAIL LAYOUT
A. Boardwalk requirement will meet ascetics of existing boardwalk purchased in 2015-2023.
B. Supplier will be responsible for new boardwalk to follow the footprint of existing trail.
C. To determine the footprint of the trail, the supplier will be responsible for all transportation and costs to the island to assess the existing trail.
D. Follow-up post installation is required to certify that all safety requirements followed.
E. Park will install, this is ordering of materials only.
DELIVERY TERMS:
A. Boardwalk will be delivered to 32660 Little Sand Bay Road, Bayfield WI 54814.
B. Delivery must occur within 45 days after contract awarded.
C. Delivery arrangements must be made 1 week prior to delivery.
