About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the manufacture and delivery of four full-scale replica 18th Century Spanish 6-pounder iron cannons with 3" bores for the National Park Service, to be used at Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments in Saint Augustine, Florida. Two cannons will be installed at each location for cannon firing demonstrations.
The contractor must provide all project management, labor, tools, equipment, shipping, and materials to manufacture the cannons according to NPS Reference Manual 6 specifications. The cannons must be designed for a subtropical marine environment with special coating requirements including three layers of paint (primer and two overcoats). The work includes site visits to assess existing conditions, development of design/construction drawings for NPS approval, removal of existing cannons, and installation of new ones. The contract period is 730 days (24 months) from award, with on-site work limited to Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm excluding federal holidays. Fort Matanzas is only accessible by boat/barge. The cannons will be placed on the second floor gun decks at both locations and must be lifted by mechanical means.
