5/10/2023 Humpback Rocks Picnic Area:
Questions from Site Visit
1. Question to specify the ADA sites: The three (3) Accessible ADA sites identified the sites closest to the restroom at the top of the driving circle across from the Dumpster screen site. The accessible parking will be those closest four (4) sites (to become three parking spots once van accessible striping is added), and sidewalks to picnic tables will be from accessible van striping.
2. Asked for clarification on the dumpster pad: Updated information on the Dumpster pads, the dumpster screen is still being demolished, however the asphalt is to remain, the park plans to use that asphalt as contractor laydown area during the contract and as parking at the completion of the work.
3. Question about old tables being removed: Further clarification about the disposition of the old tables and benches being removed; there was a removed table and bench visible for inspection onsite, the picnic table benches that were visible for inspection are strait slabs that were about three to 4 feet long, the tables available for inspection were longer (about four feet long) and one had an L- concrete support at the base and another did not.
4. Question about what type of base material is acceptable for under the new tables: 57 stone is to be used as structural and drainage support for under new tables as base.
5. Note: Contractor to be mindful of edge of asphalt which is new, if broken contractor will be expected to repair.
6. Question about extent of work and options. No options past balancing rock, all sites are near the upper bathroom and not down around the lower bathroom area where the ground is steeper.
7. Elaborate on which tables are part of the Base Bid 20:
a. 4 at 1 group site
b. 12 inside driving circle (includes 3 ADAs) that circles the upper restroom
c. 4 immediately to the right when entering the Picnic area, to the outside of the driving circle.
8. Note: Save up to ten (10) single leg bench seat posts that are intact for park usage, these can be left in a pile near the dumpster pad.
9. Material Specification: Pilot Rock is the current manufacturer and what was identified in the contract, see contract for how to propose a substitution to be approved by COR.
10. Access to restrooms: On Oct 30th the NPS public bathrooms shutdown for the season.
11. Staging: Contractor may laydown in the dumpster pad location, and if tables need to be delivered early they may be scatter as throughout the picnic area near where they are being installed.
12. Gate Access: Combo lock for access during closure season.
