About this file

This document is a Standard Form 30 Amendment of Solicitation/Modification of Contract for the National Park Service's Trail Bridge Yockanookany Section project. Amendment 0002 addresses multiple technical questions about the bridge construction, including clarifications on design delegation, connection methods, and material coatings. Key details include confirmation that diaphragms can be bolted instead of welded, bearing plates must be welded to girders, and metal components should be coated (via galvanization, epoxy, or powder coating) to minimize corrosion. The steel angle nailer brackets can be spaced up to 5 inches on center, with flexibility to adjust for even spacing. The bid due date is July 17, 2025 at 2:00 CT, and the project involves installing steel I-beams and concrete abutments for a 50-foot trail bridge on the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail in Madison, Mississippi.

Amendment 0002 We had a few questions so we are sharing the answers below. All other terms, conditions, and times remain the same. BIDS ARE DUE JULY 17,2025 AT 2:00CT.

One question, I noticed the highlighted area regarding delegated design on pdf page 2. Does this mean that minor design details can be delegated to the contractor? The delegated design would be for the pre-fabricated bridges. Those are the only elements that are not

¿designed¿ since they will be built by a manufacturer.

Can the diaphragms be bolted instead of welded to the girders? Yes they can.

Does the diaphragm connection bracket need to be on both sides of the diaphragm in addition

140P5225R0019/0002 to each end of the diaphragm? Yes

Do the bearing plates need to be welded to the girders? Yes they do.

Do the hardware, girders, bearing plates, diaphragms, nailer angle need to be coated in any way? It would be best if they were to minimize corrosion over time. They can be galvanization

(zinc coated), epoxy coated, or powder coated

Do we need to include the steel angle nailer bracket if so please provide the spacing? The nailers are spaced a maximum of 5¿ oc along the length of the bridge. They can be less than 5¿ to allow for them to be evenly spaced along the length.

Would these minor design alterations fall within that delegated design? Or should we maintain no deviation from the design we have now? Typically, not. It would be best to maintain no deviation from the plans
