About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to a construction project involving a vault, masonry, and chimney work. The Q&A covers critical project details including site conditions, materials requirements, and performance evaluation procedures. Key points include: existing condition assessments have been incorporated into project specifications, soil testing is required due to potential historical contamination, and waterproofing is included in the scope of Probe B. The project involves careful consideration of site access, equipment limitations, and material compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Contractors are directed to review Construction Documents for specific quantities of wood repair, masonry repair, and chimney reconstruction details. Performance evaluations must use the standard government-provided review form.

Questions and answers
1. Do you have any existing assessments or reports regarding the condition of the vault masonry and chimney?
Yes, they have been incorporated into the Project Specifications. A design task order conducted a condition assessment and produced these Construction Documents.
2. Are there existing access points for CCTV/jetting of the roof leaders, or will new ones need to be created?
Unclear what "existing access" means.
3. For imported fill and topsoil, can you provide a list of approved park sources?
No. Materials must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
4. What is the required soil composition or specification for backfill/topsoil restoration?
Materials must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
5. If the excavated soil is intended to be reused for backfilling and will remain onsite, can you clarify the purpose of the soil testing, and whether testing is still required in that case?
This is the original soil from the time of construction. The concern of potentially contaminated soils is warranted (due to military activity in the area at time of construction), but the actual probability unknown. Testing must be conducted to confirm and inform subsequent field work activities.
6. In Section 01 27 00 – Definition of Contract Line Items, only Probes A and C mention waterproofing. Please confirm whether waterproofing is excluded from the scope of Probe B.
Waterproofing is included in the scope of Probe B.
7. Are there any load limits or restrictions on construction equipment access to the site?
Access restrictions due to the size of fort entrance. No load limits are anticipated at the project site.
Access route to site may encounter load limits or other restrictions. Please review the project location.
8. Could you provide estimated quantities for the following items:
Publicly provided information can be found in the Construction Documents (Project Specifications, Construction Drawings).
o Amount of wood repair required o Area or quantity of brick/masonry repair o Extent and dimensions of the chimney to be dismantled and reconstructed — should we assume full removal and rebuild?
9. Regarding performance evaluations: Are we required to use the government-provided performance review form, or can we submit previous client evaluations in our standard format?
Standard government provided performance review form.
