Request for Proposal Number 140P4325R0019 Bunker Hill Monument Fence Repair at Boston National Historical Park Amendment 0001
DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT/MODIFICATION
The following are a list of questions received for the Solicitation Number 140P4325R0019, Bunker Hill Monument Fence Repair at Boston National Historical Park.
1) The scope of work does not mention painting the repaired work, is the contractor required to paint repaired elements?
Answer: Yes. It was not included in the original scope since we had plans for youth volunteers to do this work. Those plans have since fallen through and now will need to have all repair work painted. We request repaired portions be painted with a zinc rich primer such as a cold-galvanizing compound. An oil-based paint formulated for application to metal such as Rustoleum or approved equal is preferred for the finish coat. Color and sheen should match the surrounding metal.
2) Regarding Option 1 work, confirm NPS has the 5 fence pickets and 10 base ornaments to be reinstalled, or provide quantity to be fabricated by contractor.
Answer: We checked all available stock in storage and we have enough materials on hand to make the necessary repairs. I count 9 "X" brace style ornaments and 1 fence picket that are missing that will need to be reinstalled. We have plenty of pickets for our current needs but we will need additional "x" style ornaments to maintain our replacement stock. We would like to request 12 "x" style ornaments be fabricated to replenish our stock of this piece.
3) Regarding Option 1 work, if pickets or ornaments are required to be furnished by the contractor, confirm if NPS has patterns required for castings to be fabricated.
Answer: We have original pattern blocks for many of the fence components. I don't seem to have the pattern block for the "x" style ornaments. We can provide an original piece for the contractor's use in order to make sand molds for casting. The original piece shall be returned to the NPS at the conclusion of work.
