Statement of Work For

Manure Removal Services

1. Introduction:

The United States Park Police (USPP) is one of the oldest uniformed federal law enforcement agencies in the United States. The USPP functions as a full-service law enforcement agency with responsibilities and jurisdiction in National Park Service (NPS) areas primarily located in the Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and New York City and certain other government lands.

In addition to performing the normal crime prevention, investigation, and apprehension functions of an urban police force, the USPP maintains a Horse Mounted Patrol (HMP) Unit. The USPP HMP Unit is one of the oldest established police equestrian units in the United States. The USPP HMP Units are assigned to Federal parks in Washington, DC, New York City, and San Francisco. These nationally acclaimed officers and mounts are highly respected for crowd management techniques. They also function to maintain order during major demonstrations and special events and have been transported to other sites in the NPS system to control demonstrations. During this contract’s period of performance, the USPP HMP Unit plans to have between approximately twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) horses that are housed in two (2) USPP stables in the Greater Washington D.C.
