About this file
This is an amendment to solicitation 140P2125Q0020 issued by the National Park Service (NPS) that extends the proposal due date and provides answers to contractor questions about required aluminum fencing specifications for Canaveral National Seashore. The new proposal due date is January 17, 2025 at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
The technical requirements specify black powder-coated aluminum fencing that must withstand hurricane winds, with 1-inch square pickets, posts set 24 inches deep, and aluminum grade 6061 for rails and posts. The design calls for multiple cemetery enclosures requiring a total of 94 fence panels (4'h x 6'w), 16 corner posts (3'x3'), 80 line posts (2.5"x2.5"), 8 line posts (3'x3'), and 4 single gates (4'x72"). The NPS clarified that while San Marino fence style was used as a basis, this is not a brand name requirement - equivalent specifications meeting the technical requirements are acceptable. Detailed specifications are provided for horizontal rails, picket spacing, alloy requirements, and other components.

Q9 ‐ By the listing in description it sounds like this is a commercially manufactured item, because it is specifying end posts and corner posts. If so, do we have any detail drawings for what they are looking for?
Answer: Please look at the attached specs sheet below ‐ as stated above, this is not a brand name requirement.
Attached is drawings for the what the fence will need to be for the cemetery.
Q4 ‐ Additionally, there are no specifications listed in the solicitation for the gauge (thickness) of aluminum required for the components.
Answer: Please see the specs sheet attached below for the gauge thickness for the aluminum ‐ again this is not a brand name requirement.
Q5 ‐ Can the end user please provide dimensions for the vertical pickets i.e 5/8", 3/4", 1.00" ?
Answer: The park would like to have 1"‐inch square pickets.
Q6 ‐ Thickness verification on all of the components listed in SOW. Answer: Please see the specs below ‐ again this is not a brand name requirement.
Q8 ‐ Also I am going to need grades of aluminum. I am going to assume 6061 on all of the rails and tubing, but on the panels (which will most likely be sheet metal) are we to assume 5052?
Answer: The panels will need to be aluminum, not sheet metal and the grade levels of 6061 for rails and post are fine.
140P2125Q0020 ‐ Questions and Answers
Q1 ‐ for the requested black aluminum fencing and we wanted to know if you have any specific design or pictures that we can review so that we can ensure accurate pricing for your requested needs
Answer: CANA would like to have the specifications to be aluminum, Powder‐Coat Black Finish. Additionally, it needs to be strong enough to sustain hurricane winds.
Q2 ‐ Are the fence line, corner and gate posts, intended to be surface mounted? If so, is surface mounted hardware for all posts a requirement of this solicitation? No they are not surfaced mounted.
Answer: Post will need to be in the ground at least 24" inches.
Q3 ‐ I am also wondering if there is a particular fence system/manufacturer that your customer can cite?
Answer: Attached below is the San Marino fence style the park used as a basis for this requirement. This is not a brand‐ name requirement, so San Marino is not required, but the specifications of the materials provided by the offeror should be equal.
