Questions

What kind of treatment do they want and retention? Ground contact needs a higher retention rate than if it is off the ground.

2 Do you want rough or surfaced?

Is incised ok? Incising, small incisions mechanically put into the wood, helps the treatment get into the wood for a higher retention

Is Hem/Fir ok? Douglas Fir is harder to treat and may require a different kind of treatment.

Do they want free of heart center (FOHC) on the timbers?

Timbers are more stable if the center of the tree is not in it.

Are there specifications for what type of pressure treatment you would like?

Can the government supply a forklift for unloading the truck at the delivery site?

Would fir douglas be considered appropriate for the specifications outlined in the solicitation?

9 Are there any allowances for cracks in the timber?

can the customer inspect the material before delivery to ensure that the quality meets their standards?

11 Is this stock Full Sawn Rough, Standard Sawn Rough or S4S?

12 Is this stock green or kiln dried prior to treatment?

13 What treatment is required, i.e. ACZA, CA-C, Creosote, Penta, etc.?

14 What is the required treatment retention?

Do you have a staging area where the lumber will be placed? Or is the expectation to simply place the lumber on the floor within 100' radius of the delivery as stated in the solicitation?

The solicitation outlines that the lumber will be inspected according to the

Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association standard Grading Rules.

This association mainly focuses on lumber grading for White pine lumber.

In the event the provided lumber is Fir, would the grading be based on a different rule, such as the Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau grading?
