140P2121Q0005/0002 the same grid site locations (21) be used for both of the species sampling surveys to be taken?
The primary habitats of interest for both species could be sampled with a minimum of 21 sites across the three target habitat types (rocky substrate, vegetated, and unvegetated). If the offeror sees a need/value in targeting additional areas, or including covariates within habitat types (type of vegetation, for example) this should be explained in their proposed sampling design. Our expectation is that the number of sampling units within each site will be dependent on offerors¿ designs, and is why we indicated that three sampling units would be a ¿loose goal¿ for sampling within each site.
3) We are assuming that the crab sample is only identifying the quantity of target species present at time of survey (ex. count the crabs in the pot); however, when we pulled up the standardized template on the website there were additional stats requested on samples including size, age and sex of specimens. These statistics are not explicitly mentioned in analysis
Deliverables. Counting the quantity of the species present takes time. Sexing and aging takes a lot more time. How much data is required?
The referenced template is designed to capture data in a standardized format across all inventory projects we are funding and contains fields that may not be relevant for all studies.
To meet the objectives of the ASIS project we are only interested in abundance; not age or sex of individuals.
