BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM) 02/14/18
GENERAL EDITING INSTRUCTIONS EDIT - 1
Poison Spider Trailhead Rehabilitation Pre-bid meeting Notes 8/29/2022
Meeting held onsite @ 1400 hrs. Mountain time
Present: Stan Johnson (District Engineer, BLM); Ashley Wareham (Harrison Field Services);
Tammy Hampton (Medved Global)
Notes:
• Project MUST be complete by February 28, 2023 to prevent interference with the 2023 Jeep Safari.
• Access road and parking lot closures permitted, but not required. Primary driver is whether closure would be required for safety reasons
• Kiosk will be left in place; that bid additive item should be removed from consideration
• Gravel placement begins at uphill edge of asphalt
• Riprap placed per plans, including over sloped area between parking lot and access road, as shown in plans
Q&A:
• Does the riprap have to match the site rock?
o That’s preferable, but not required by specs. If our Recreation program thinks non-native riprap has a negative impact on visual resources, contractor may be able to top imported riprap with onsite stones
• How will road drainage work?
o Road drainage is generally addressed by Dtl. A-1 on page S3 of plans.
• How far west of the paleontology trail should the new culvert extend?
o Extend culvert ~4’ away from trail on uphill side of the trail o Though some rock incision will be necessary on the uphill side, the contractor can build up the trail to achieve the 12” cover over the new culvert
• Will an excavator be allowed on the paleo trail?
o Yes, though there shouldn’t be a need to take it any further down the trail than the location of the culvert.
