140L5720Q0036 – Jurassic National Monument Exhibit Base, BLM UT Price Field Office

1) Should there be a railing around the exhibit, as in the desired end result sample photos?

If so, will that railing be the existing railing or a new one?

There is an existing railing that extends around most of the area. The railing will remain in place. No new railing is needed.

2) Should there be reader rails with info as in the samples?

If so, how many?

Yes, there should be a reader rail with information. We are planning on two panels of text/information

3) Does the base need to be built/installed around the metal armature holding up the allosaurus, or will the allosaurus be moved while the base is installed?

The base will need to be built/installed around the metal armature holding up the allosaurus. The allosaurus can be moved slightly within the circle, but it can't be moved out into the vistor center.

4) Are we including pricing for a graphic elements and interpretive elements around the Allosaurus mount and groundform? And if so is there more info about these elements.

For the exhibit base, no additional graphic elements or interpretive elements are needed.

5) Is there an existing reader rail?

No there is not an existing reader rail. A reader rail is needed, size needs to provide for approximately 2 panels.

6) Can you confirm if the Allosaurus mount is at the final ht. it needs to be for final viewing to be embedded in the groundform well? If not we will need to raise this mount. Can you give an approximate weight and confirm what it is made of? Do we need to manipulate this mount in any way?

It is at the final height. No manipulation is needed. I do not know the exact weight, might be about 300 pounds because 2 staff members can move the mount. The mount can be moved slightly within the space, but due to height and size, the movement is limited. I can't confirm what it is made out of.

7) Are we responsible for protecting this mount or will it already be protected?

The applicant is responsible for protecting the mount.

8) Who is responsible for the supplying the correct paleontological references for the project Th? Who will confirm the accuracy of the groundform and scientific record for plants, soils, etc.?

The applicant is responsible for supplying the correct paleontological references for the project and to confirm the accuracy of the groundform and scientific record for plants, soils, etc. BLM staff would review the proposed plan details.

9) Does the install work on site need to priced as a prevailing wages project for that area of Utah?

Is there a place to off load away from the public? Is there a secure place to store tools and equipment?

The season of operation is typically April 1 to October 31. The applicant can store equipment and tools on site. The area is behind 2 locked gates. Of season (Nov to April 1). The preference is for have construction completed in the off season. Wage rates will be attached to the end of the solicitation document.

10) What is access into the site beyond the double doors into the exhibit space for the Jurassic diorama?

Is there a utility closet for water, etc. Can workers use utilities and bathrooms during the work time?

Will the exhibit space be open to the public and staff and can we expect to do install work during a regular work day?

There is a double door front entrance and the double door back entrance into the exhibit. There is not a utility closet, but BLM would provide non-potable water. There are 2 typical BLM vault toilets available for use. And the install could be completed during regular work hours. Because it is behind locked gates, arrangements for keys would be made to allow for access to the site.
