2021 Dip Vat Noxious Weed Control
Amendment 0001
Questions Answered:
1. What is the reasoning behind limiting herbicide treatment to 2 days? Is it expected that the entire project will be mapped and treated in 2 days via ground crews?
This is based on our past experience of treating this area with approximately 10-15 personnel each year.
We have been treating the area for at least 15 years and we have a short window to accomplish the treatment before the Dyers wode pods out. The mapping process is creating one point per treatment area. If an area within the project is located in a drainage that extends 100 feet, only one point is required. There may be an area of 10 plants that are treated where there will be one point mapped.
There may be an area where there is a full acre of plants treated and it will have only one point mapped.
With this being a new contract and the possibility of continued contracting of this project, we want to have data for future referencing of known treated spots.
2. Is it only required for the contractor and site foreman to have professional applicator licenses or must every applicator have a license?
Yes, this is correct. The other applicators will be under the direct supervision, within visual distance of a licensed applicator.
3. Is there prior pricing for this contract?
No. This project has always been done with BLM employees.
4. Has this area been inventoried or treated before? If so, when?
Yes. Every year for at least the last 15 years. We are trying to keep the Dyers wode contained in this area.
Eradication would be the ultimate goal, but we don’t believe this is possible.
5. Is there any shapefile data for this project area pertaining to known infestations?
The polygon on the pdf map is what we have worked within. We haven’t kept point data over the years, but we are wanting to have new data from this contract.
6. What is the closest water source?
Carey, Idaho is the nearest location for municipal water. Our experience on the project area is taking a pickup with 150 gallons of water and we haven’t needed more than that amount.
7. It is stated that infested acres are the same as the project acres. Does this mean all of the 985 acres will likely need to be treated (assuming the majority of the area is infested)?
We are asking for the 985 acres to be gridded and any plants found to be treated. There is much of the area where no treatments will be necessary. There are scattered plants throughout the project area, with only one larger area where the plants abundant.
