About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for two Bureau of Land Management drill seeding projects in Fall 2025: ESR North (140L4325Q0079) and ESR South (140L4325Q0096). The projects involve drill seeding at two separate fire-affected locations approximately 85 miles apart. Key details include specific seeding requirements of approximately 10 pounds per acre at a shallow depth (½ to 1 inch), with drill seeding mandated over aerial application due to higher germination success. The Vale District will handle drill transportation between locations, while the contractor is responsible for moving drills throughout each fire site and returning them to designated staging areas. The seeding is specifically scheduled for fall 2025, with no option for spring implementation due to potential germination and mud-related challenges. The drilling equipment will utilize a 3-drill cart configuration, with each drill being 10 feet wide, creating a total 30-foot wide seeding apparatus.

140L4325Q0096- ESR SOUTH DRILL SEEDING FALL 2025
1. Regarding ESR South and North seeding projects, the solicitation state work data sheet will be given after award. We need to know average pounds per acre and depth for seeding.
0. The Work Data Sheet will include that information. The pounds per acre vary, but the average is around 10 lbs / ac and depth of ¼ to ½ inch. The Work Data Sheets are not currently finalized.
1. Is there any way the period of performance can extend to a spring seeding instead of the fall?
1. No, we do not have good germination with a spring seeding and have had issues with mud in the past.
1. How many drills would be provided and what is the size of the drills?
2. Number of drills depends on the awardee's equipment availability for each location and timing of implementation.
2. The drills are in a 3-drill cart formation. The drills are 10 feet wide, so the 3-drill cart is 30 feet wide.
1. Would an aerial application be acceptable?
3. No, drill seeding have a higher germination success rate than aerial.
1. How far from the Durkee seedings is the Coyote fire?
