About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Bureau of Land Management solicitation for aluminum angles. The solicitation (Number 140L4325Q0051) seeks 10,000 aluminum angle markers for boundary line marking in Oregon. Key specifications include: material must be 6061 aluminum, with rounded structural angle corners, no specific finish required, and no pre-drilled holes or additional fabrication needed. Delivery requirements include palletized and wrapped packaging, with a forklift available for unloading at the delivery site.

Submission instructions specify electronically submitting a completed price schedule via email to blm_or_so_952_mail@blm.gov and jkale@blm.gov. The government intends to receive all 10,000 pieces in a single delivery, though they may consider multiple deliveries if pricing remains unchanged. No special packaging is required, and the angles will be used by pounding vertically into the ground to mark boundary lines. Vendors are advised to provide a quote that meets the rounded corner and 6061 aluminum material specifications.

Q&A Aluminum Angle Markers Q. Are any pre-drilled holes or other fabricated features required in the aluminum angles?

A. No pre-drilled holes or other fabricated features are required.

Q. Do you intend to order all 10,000 pieces at one time, or will there be multiple smaller releases requested?

A. I intend to have all 10,000 pieces delivered at one time. I am not opposed to multiple deliveries, as long as it doesn’t increase the price.

Q. How do I submit my bid? Do I simply fill in the applicable parts of form 1449 and email it to you?

A. Send a completed price schedule (Section B). Electronically submit via email to blm_or_so_952_mail@blm.gov and jkale@blm.gov.

Q. 6060 aluminum is not commonly available in the U.S. Would you approve the use of 6063-T6, which is available, has similar mechanical properties, and is often considered a functional equivalent for many applications?

A. I apologize for requesting 6060. That was a typo. I require 6061.

Q. ASTM B221 profile norms would usually call for round corner angle. Do you need a round or square corner angle for your application?

A. Rounded, structural angle corners, please.

Q. Is there a specific finish required for the aluminum (e.g., brushed, polished, anodized, coated, etc.)?

A. No specific finish required. We pound them vertically in the ground to mark our boundary lines.

Q. Is the edge to be manufactured at 90° angles, or should the corner be rounded slightly, a slight fillet? (all the sharp edges can be removed and "knocked off” to prevent injury) A. Rounded, structural angle corners, please.

Q. Are there any special packaging requirements? For example, should items be individually wrapped, grouped in sets, boxed, or is palletized and wrapped delivery acceptable?

A. No need for special packaging. Palletized and wrapped delivery is acceptable.

Q. Will a forklift be available at the delivery location to assist with unloading?

A. A forklift is available at the delivery location. At least one week prior notice to requestor is required to schedule receiving and forklift driver.

Q. These are the examples I was referring to. One angle is sharp and the other is round. Which one does the government need or does it matter?

A. Rounded, structural angle corners, please.
