Contractor Questions (Q#) Posed During Site Visits on 08/09/2023 and 08/10/2023 with
Government Answers (A#):
Willamina
Q1: For the new electric gate, does the government want a keypad or a card reader?
A1: Keypad (see drawing set page 5 of 14).
Q2: Is there any existing power near the gate?
A2: It is not expected to have any power utilities at the existing gate, but contractor is to verify existing utility locations before the start of work (see drawings set page 5 of 14).
Q3: Installing slats will be difficult. The back fence that will have slat installation contains vegetation. If slats are wanted, vegetation would need to be removed on both sides of the fence (possibly on private property). Some of the fence is also being used as a retaining wall on the private side, which would make slat installation difficult. Can a fabric be placed on the fence instead of installing slats?
A3: No, government wants slats (see specification section 323113 Chain Link Fences and
Gates).
Q4: Can the slats be made out of vinyl instead of wood?
A4: Yes, give material type with your Product Data Submittal for COR approval (see specification section 323113 Chain Link Fences and Gates).
Molalla
Q5: The existing slats are placed in the factory and stapled, not in the field. To replace they would need to be unstapled and pulled up through the barbed wire. This process could be difficult and add to costs, would the government like to place fabric over the fence instead of replacing the slats?
A5: No, government wants slats (see specification section 323113 Chain Link Fences and
Gates).
